Rubber bands on gaurds?

I've seen them before in higher leveled gymnasts. What do the rubber bands do in your guards for bars?
To keep them on haha???

If your grips are velcro, they keep the velcro from unraveling.

unraveling grips can be very annoying! especially in the middle of a routine, and defiantly at comps!

I've actually seen people use them to keep them from slipping off their fingers.
