What would be the bigger deduction on a level 3 floor routine: not doing the BHS, doing it with a spot, doing it on one's own very poorly?

it's better to not do it at all if it's so poor there is an overt risk of injury. like hitting the head or dislocating an elbow.

i don't see the point of spotting on this most basic skill until it is mastered.
 
Our coaches will not spot on skills in competition. If you cannot perform a skill at least minimally safely on a consistent basis, then you don't compete that event.

My DD had one teammate scratch floor at their last meet because she does not yet have her BHS independently.
