I’ve been debating if I should quit gymnastics the past month, and I been thinking about quitting before but I ended up liking gymnastics again so I didn’t quit. I feel like quitting again and here’s why.
1. I don’t feel like I fit in.
Ive done gymnastics for 4 years almost 5 and I went to this gym for 2 years almost 3. I’m kind of quiet at gymnastics so I don’t have any friend really even though my teammates are nice I don’t have anyone to talk to and make practice more fun, and I don’t have a fun and talkative relationship with the coaches like all my other teammates do, I don’t get pep talks when I cry at all which is barely ever but when everyone else cries they get a pep talk and it’s unfair. One of my coaches don’t even acknowledge me sometimes, she made upgrade lists for everyone but me and that made me hurt. Although I have coaches that do care about me.
2. I’m constantly yelled at.
I always get yelled at for doing something wrong, I’m always picked at , if I have a mental block, I’m yelled at then my coaches just get frustrated and not talk me through it like they do my other teammates.
3. Always injured
I tore my groin twice and I’m currently recovering from one and I can’t really do much at practice which sucks because it’s summer practice/upgrade season
4. Might not level up I’m falling behind
I was put in the platinum group and the only XCel gold to go to platinum but because my injury I’m falling behind and I can’t really go to practice and work on lots of upgrades on floor, vault, and some of beam, I might have to redo gold.
I can’t do lots of skills not even a back tuck anymore.
5. I dread practice
The thought of going to practice makes me scared cause I don’t wanna get yelled at anymore and I don’t wanna watch everyone else get better and I stay stuck, I’m happy for everyone else but it hurts so it overall made me not enjoy going to practice, I skip practice lots
6. I’ve been looking at other sports
I was thinking that if I quit I could join cheer and maybe be a flyer, or a tumbler or base and take classes to tryout for a team, also I can do school sports like track, field hockey, and other things
It might be just a phase but honestly I don’t know because if I quit I feel like I’ll miss it. What do you guys think?
