NCAA Signing day

Can someone give a bit more color about the NCAA signing day? Is this the day where those 2025 high school graduates that had verbally committed sign their contracts officially?

And once they sign their contracts, they cannot go to another university without some hardship. Up until then, in theory they could talk to any other university and changed their commitment.

It's basically the START of signing season. Many kids sign well after "signing" day.
