I am having a lot of trouble learning a straddle press handstand. We don't work on them at all at gym, but I am trying to teach myself, meaning I can't get a spot or anything.
Here's what I can already do:
I can easily do a straddle press headstand.
I can do a press handstand against a wall fairly easily (I am talking about standing ones by the way, not from sitting.)
I can do a press handstand on the floor if I bend my knees and jump first.
I can do one without jumping if my feet are on a raised surface.
I can do a handstand and then press out of it.
That is about all I can do by myself. When I try to do one, I can't get my feet off the ground at all and feel like I am about to fall over. I am leaning forward as far as I can. I have heard that you are supposed to have your hips over your hands, but I cannot for the life of me get them there. Any tips? Oh, and I was also wondering if it is easier to do one from a narrower or wider straddle? Please help!
