My DD is thinking about switching gyms but I don’t know if we should or not, here are some reasons why she wants to:
1. The gym is holding her back a level (she already has all the skills for the next level)
2. Most of her friends are planning to switch aswell
3. The gym treats your child like an “Gymnastics Machine” and not a child
Ex. You are told to eat/not eat certain foods, You cannot talk ever (no matter what), and you can’t cry/ be exited
4. Coaches have favorites
5. Most kids feel bored because they are not working on skills/drills appropriate to their level

3. The gym treats your child like an “Gymnastics Machine” and not a child

This is a big red flag to me, and all of your reasons are very valid for wanting to make a change. I would find a new gym if I were in your position.

That sounds miserable!! A huge part of why my daughter loves gymnastics is the fun and comraderie they have at practice. All kinds of cheering for new skills etc. I can't imagine not being allowed to talk or get excited. The coaches dislike the crying, for sure, but understand it happens once in a while.
