teaching a tsuk layout but my kid keeps doing a open pike ... any tips for getting her from that shape to a layout (or drills)

Block and stand up with a rib lift and arms up. Do the drill where ever you want but it's best to do this on a vault table onto a stack of mats that are higher than the table.

If you can work the kid on a shortened run to get less speed while working the drill, she'll be forced to become as efficient in her movements as she possibly can. Once she has the best block to stand you could ever imagine, have her go back to full length runs...... my idea of a sort run is 9 or 11 steps going as hard as possible, and a full run is 13 steps going as hard as possible. I'll never ask a kid to run slowly, but will give them few steps to build speed with..... follow the stand with a layout motion where she brings her arms in and presses her pelvis slightly toward her ribs. Block, ribs and arms up, pelvis rotates toward the ribs while bringing the body up to the arms.....

Or something like that.......

Beam deductions

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1
