So I think I may have my handstand flatback vault down! I just all of a sudden got it! My coach today wanted me to start out with a combination between a dive roll and flatback, to get the feeling of a proper flat back, and it just happened. And I was able to do it again, and again. Which is wicked cool. Now I have to keep working on my handstands and cartwheels on beam. I am actually more afraid of doing a handstand on beam than a cartwheel lol

Well, last week we worked vault and were doing dive cartwheels off the springboard to work towards handspring vaults. That was super fun :) Then we worked bars and I got *most* of my level 4 routine down! So exciting!!
This week we added a new person to our class so things were a bit slower. I still got to work on my bars routine and then worked on RO BHS! I still have to have a spot, but it's getting better. I never imagined I would be able to do a RO BHS, so I'm amazed at myself.

Nothing much happened this week. I missed half the week's practices due to my stomach being too bad, but I did some more straddle backs in the beginning of the week which is getting my confidence up on them more and more, and I am becoming more consistent on beam. I am able to do beam and bars more than the other events, and it really does pay off the extra hours you put in. I am a little frustrated w/ not being able to get my layout 1/2 back on floor and my front handspring front pike front tuck. I am sure I will get them back eventually, but floor and vault have been harder for me to get back as well as the other events. I am decent on them, but not a lot of high difficulty going on. Oh, and my turn seems to be getting better on beam. Lots of snap 1/2 turns and wrong-way turns!

awesome gina! i hope your stomach gets better soon... i'll have to remember the snap half turns and wrong way turns for when i come back and try to perfect my full turn! i may just get out my little beam i have at home and try some.

That is allowed by your PT? :)

i think so... i mean you're just upright, your back is in line, and your calves are doing most of the work, right? :) i've been doing them off and on since i've been hurt, so i don't think they affect me at all. i've just done them on the floor, though, not the beam, to avoid possible pain when i wobble.

Nothing new this week- missed gym due to over doing fun time for too many nights in a row! Passed out on my couch instead. I did do a nice front handspring in my grass outside my apartment, in the rain, on tuesday night! Was very proud of myself for landing it, I've been coming out low a lot lately and that's on the spring floor.

Just make sure to take it easy Danielle! Yes, we will see what Tuesday night will bring, if I get the chance to do it, since we don't have a private on Friday.

Good accomplishments, nikki, Gina and nicci! And kgymn, if you can do front handsprings on wet grass, they'll be a piece of cake on a gym floor! Keeping hopes up for you dannolynn!

did a little bars yesterday and last tuesday. it sure doesn't take much time to get out of shape. i had to do a straddle back after reading about them in this post. i would love to incorporate it into a routine. practice practice practice. i wish that i had the time to join a team and workout everyday.

Good job aerialriver! Keep on truckin'. Weren't they fun?

Katy, you'll get a straddle back into a routine in no time at all. Keep expanding your goals and you'll be surprised by the results! :)

Good for you Aerial! Front tucks are so much fun, even if you land on your butt lol! I kind of got a chuckle out of your post katy, b/c you were like, well, I read about them, and decided to do them. Good luck with those.

No major accomplishments, but no fall backs either. I think I got my sudden progression for the month-my vault. But everything is coming along swimmingly

nice job nicci! and everyone else! it's always good when you at least don't move backwards and lose stuff!

Still haven't put the double-double on floor yet, but yesterday I did my full floor routine with all the hard skills for the first time. I've been working watered-down routines to build up my endurance, and I've finally gotten to the point where I can plug in all my hardest stuff.

Here are my passes right now:
RO, BHS, layout Thomas
Front 2/1, dive roll
Japanese (wide-arm) press handstand
RO, back 5/2
Pike press
RO, BHS, tucked Thomas
Double front.

I'm hoping to eventually do a double-double in place of the layout thomas and punch another skill out of the front 2/1 and the back 5/2.

Pretty amazing routine! Are you competing anytime soon?
