Hi, i'm trying to learn tuck tsukahara on vault at the moment but i can't get enough power from the last hand to leave the vault to be able to do the backward sumi and make it round fully. I have had a dislocating shoulder for 2 years now and it dislocates easily and hurts alot when it does, it just has to be the arm i need the most power off. When i was able to make it round fully in the sumi the other day it dislocated so i don't know how to do it without dislocating... any one have any ideas?
thanks

Sounds like a painful problem!

I don't know if you are male or female, or how strong your shoulders are combined, but the old female technique for a tsuk was to do a 1/2 on to the vault, and use both arms for block... Might be a fix to this particular problem, but would require you learn a half-on. It may also incur deductions in competition (and by may I mean probably will).

Talk it over with your coach. You may want to switch to forward approach vaults instead - hs twisters or hs front...

Good luck!

Ryan
