Coaches USA Gymnastics starting background checks

All I can say is...ABOUT TIME!! I've known some real creeps that are coaches and wouldn't trust them around my children. Its about time USAG stepped up and instituted this policy, I really hope that all gym owners also do them on every employee.

I second that! It's about time! I too have had my share of "creeps" and what not as coaches, and the sad thing is that many of them do pass the background check because former businesses are too afraid to report anything because of fear of slander/libel, etc. I'm definitley glad that they're finally requiring them!

That's good! When I started coaching at the YMCA, I had to get a background check because I would be working with kids. So it has been a policiy with that specific organization for a awhile.

This is an outstanding policy. Every gym should also be doing background checks when hiring new employees.
