Parents Vault Scoring best of the 2 or average of the 2

How is the level 5 vault scored? I have been told that they take the average of the 2 vaults but I have also been told that they only use the best of the 2. We are in Missouri so I am not sure if this varies depending on where you live.

I it's the best vault that is scored. I have seen girls balk a vault (no score) and then have a good vault and score in the 9's, so if there were any averaging they would have gotten a 5 at best. I once saw a gym have a girl just vault one time and take that score. Maybe it was an injury thing, not sure why it was done.
