Hi. I'm brand new to this forum. I am a retired gymnast and current gymnastics coach.

My (possibly stupid) question: What does "DD" mean?

This acronym is hard to search on Google, but a cursory search returns "darling daughter." Is this correct? What is the difference between saying "my DD" and "my daughter"?

No difference. Some people use it as a shortcut. I prefer to just type things out as too many acronyms and "text talk" can make things harder to read.

Thank you for enlightening me!

For what it's worth (FWIW), I believe that acronyms are needlessly exclusionary. I will die on this anthill!

@Janneke Totally forgot about that... good call!

Amazing! Thanks for pointing me to this resource :)

Understandable question. When I first read a forum here I thought DD was a name, and then further along in the thread thought it was a funny coincidence that another persons daughter was named/nicknamed dee-dee. And then eventually I realized, no, not everyones daughter is named DD. Well, the more you know.

Thanks! I knew we had this but wasn't sure where :)

I’ve always assumed it means “dear daughter”. You see that sort of thing on Reddit — wives talking about “DH” and husbands talking about “DW”.
