I really need honest opinions, suggestions ,and advice- my daughter, 14 yrs very talented, was supposed to compete L9 last year but had an injury that took 3 months to heal than got reinjured so season was over, we switched gyms since they had no L9 there and these injuries could have been avoided but careless coaching with equipment placement - started new gym with robust and eagerness however, no L9’s there either so being with L6-8 had no space for learning release or doing layout with vault but floor and beam she was doing some L9, than that stopped- she wanted to quit bc she was frustrated, so I switched her to IGC for less hours and days- this started strong, platinum was the level which has L9&L10, but higher level coach missing days or giving privates during class time so no one to coach L9 skills to her, or would spend 2 hours on one event and miss the others- basically she lost most her L9 skills and is more frustrated than ever and wants to quit. Advice, suggestions please

I don’t know what state and or city you’re in but, this is what’s so difficult about gymnastics life. At some point in time sacrificing becomes too much. Re-evaluate her future with and with out gymnastics. What can the money & time being spent do to bring value to her as a person and as an athlete in other aspects in life?
Thanks to the amazing training of gymnastics these athletes do very well in other sports, to which many are significantly cheaper and have a longer career path. If gymnastics is her life then the harsh reality is you may be in the wrong area, with improper injury prevention training. Your more than welcome to give me more details and I might be able to find better help for your athlete.

Her frustration sounds justified. Are there no gyms in your area that have level 9s and 10s?
Unfortunately no, there’s a few gyms that try with one or two level 9’s but series injuries occur due to this, then there are 2 gyms that are equipped to handle level 9 & 10, one with a cited verbal abusive coach who is not allowed to be alone with the kids, and the other with a raging coach who screams & yells at both kids and their parents so most leave to the other gym with the known usag offender. Any other gym that has good level 9-10 program is 90min -3hr commute one way. I don’t really want to homeschool her.

You are right with everything you said and I wish we lived somewhere else that had high level safe gymnastics training and coaches. As much as I would love to move and give that to her, right now it’s not realistic for us to sell our house and move to another state.
What other sports do you suggest for her? She doesn’t want to do cheer (I thought of this immediately), there’s no acro & tumbling around us, no trampoline tumbling around either, she was asking about tennis which I can get her privates for but there’s no group lessons unless I form it, so all isolated so not much for social interaction (school tennis is summer/fall), she did martial arts up to black belt when younger and doesn’t want to do any martial arts anymore,, she feels she is horrible at “ball” sports (volley ball, basketball, etc… )- she isn’t horrible but I can’t change her mind, I was thinking dance but her past foot injury causes pain still so that might aggravate it more, I really need advice. Thank you

Other suggestions for alternative activities - I found a huge amount of camaraderie in circuits arts if you have that near you. I trained contortion and hand balancing but also played around with silks. It's really challenging, creative, and the community is beautiful. I trained in a mixed group with some still in high school and adults, one even with a child.
