I remember a few years ago, someone was talking on here about her son having gotten a rip, kept working out on it, and it got infected, eventually forcing him to take a lot of time off. When our guys get nasty rips (an easily verifiable thing), they skip hanging on pbars and work on other things. They generally don't do ps and high bar on the same days to avoid hot hands, unless it's a pre-meet practice where they are doing a one on six. If tape doesn't enable them to swing good high bar, there's usually something they can work on in straps, or even just improve turning skills and casting on a floor bar. The nice thing about optionals is that there are so many things they need and don't have or have with poor form that there's almost always something useful they can be doing that won't aggravate whatever body part is hurt on any given day. If it's a pre-meet workout, then just go one and done for each event; no point trashing the hands even further right before a meet.
