Hey divas !
Im currently age 13 level 3/6 training 12 hours a week :). I don't know if I should do level 4 or 6 next season. I need 2 skills for lvl 4 a roundoff double back handspring and a cartwheel on beam. For level 6 i need a roundoff back handspring back tuck on floor ,a front tuck on beam, an acro series on beam probably a cartwheel back walkover), a tsuk half on , a front tuck on floor , and a flyaway. Ik its a huge list but keep in mind I have my kip-cast-clear hip- kip and a 1 and a half turn on beam , and a positive mind set! Pls be honest and tell me what to focus on and what I should try out for in August. Btw lvl 5 is not an option for me bc in my opinion it is harder than lvl 6. I'm running out of time to decide , my overall goal is to be lvl 9-10 age 17-18. Bye divassssss!

I would focus on level four. If you get a 36 twice then you could compete 6 the next year. The levels really are designed to be progressive and making too many leaps tends to create holes in your gymnastics.

Level 4 is the first level where you vault over the table, compete kip cast connections, the high bar, and learn tap swings, and build routine construction and choreography on beam and floor. It would be an extremely rare situation where I would have someone who was a level three athlete who was truly prepared to skip both 4 and 5.

Ok thanks for your feed back , I just wasnt sure bc I've made alot of progress the past few months. Like both kips clear hip lvl 4 vault over table, 180 degree switch split leap , 180 straddle jump, front hand spring step out on floor back tuck of of a box .
Sound like a pretty good plan though to have more time to prepare for level 6.

Question, why the age limit? I'm 29 and I'm still learning and improving in my gymnastics. Is there a reason you want to reach that level before a certain age?
There is definitely no age limit in gymnastics. Btw that's awesome that your doing gymnastics! My dream with gymnastics would be to make a d3 or d2 team in the USA and that's the level and ages they want people to be on their teams.

As for wether you can reach that level...
I think it'll be hard. I think L9 or 10 by that age is unlikely, but I'm always one to say never rule things out. Just try your best, and see where it goes. But remember! Rushing it won't help you reach that level, and especially not with the form D2 or D3 teams want!

However, you seem to be a lot more skilled on bars than on the other apparatusses.

My advise would be to try and keep progressing, tell your coach that you want to go far and really focus on form. A clear hip horizontal with bent arms really just isn't a clear hip horizontal for example. And a cast above horizontal with your feet but with your but low, also isn't a cast horizontal

If you really have the skills you currently have on bars, with strong form and body tension, then I would say keep working on progressions on bars even if you can't compete them. Who knows, maybe when you're older you can look into using your performance on bars for a D3 team? But that's something for later, IF it just happens you progress really solidly.

For now, I really advise to just focus on the journey and to be proud of how you're doing. Don't set your sights too solidly on one dream, there's so much cool stuff you could achieve in your gymnastics. If your path to D3 doesn't work out because it's just too much to catch up, then there's a lot of other cool stuff you can do. And if it does work out that's nice, but don't get too stuck on it I'd say. One season at a time.

As for me, I started gym at age 24 :D. I wish I could train as many hours as you or with as much help as you get, I mostly have to train myself and ask the coach occasionally for tips or a spot. I train in rec class, but I've done competitions (Recently got gold in womens team finals and in mens al around, you'd have to check that out.)

I regret being too late to do some things in life and in gymnastics, but I have other goals. Current goals include maybe one day competing at an international meet on my level.
And some day a pak salto on bars.

So I'm in a different country. At my level we only have regional finals, and we got team gold in regional finals. For mens I did the national students all around championship (students gym here allows both genders in mens and womens) and won gold in the AA. There were men in second and third haha.
nice!

Does you gym offer xcel? It may be a better option at you age and with your skill set. You could do xcel gold or platinum and get better at the skills you don’t have currently while competing the harder skill you have. After a year in xcel you could then move to level 6/7 if you gain all the skills. I personally wouldn’t do level 4 just because the bar would be too easy with the skills you have currently on bars unless they will let you work on your upgrades at the gym during meet season.

Ah, you should have lead with this. If you don’t specify, people assume you are American. The US system and Canadian system are not the same. I advise consulting your coach about level selection. The one thing that I can comment on is the fact that it is possible for a talented, hard-working, 13-year-old gymnast to reach the upper (non-elite) levels in 5 years. Just have fun, keep working, and focus on your personal journey.
