Why does the edit function only last 5 min now?

It used to be 3 hr, then it went to 1hr, now 5min. There are many times when I forget to add something want to go back. And especially when it is right away, I will edit but take too long typing (on smart phone, its hard to type fast and accurate) and it will kick out of the edit ability.

Any way to change this? I get why the feature is in place bit I think 5min is a little extreme.
