    Anyone headed to gymnix

Excellent news! I told DD that our trip to see you might not happen b/c of the waitlist. She'll be thrilled (maybe almost as much as you) to know our road trip is back on :-).

    Anyone headed to gymnix

We'll be there to watch! DD's former gym will be sending athletes so your DD will recognize one face :-).

Parents Parents with unhealthy obsession with their gymnast

Definitely not just gymnastics. I'm in Canada and hockey parents are in a league all their own! I found at our gym the craziness happened more in pre-comp b/c everyone who's invited into the precompetitive program thinks there 4/5 year old has that shot at national stream, so everyone is much...

WAG Another Level 6 Bar Dismount Question

Thanks All. I'll have to show DD the video to see if that's what she's doing. Would this be considered easier than the back flyaway? I guess, "easy" is relative to the athlete. My DD made is sound like the different dismount was due to either difficulty with the other flyaway or fear. I...

WAG Another Level 6 Bar Dismount Question

Last night DD and I were talking on the way home from the gym and she mentioned an old teammate wasn't doing a fly away dismount (level 6) on bars but something else that "met" the dismount requirements. Is this possible? I quickly looked it up on-line and the requirements are "salto"...

    WAG Fly away-level 6

Thanks for the replies. DD just got back from the gym and it appears they definitely do prefer the lay out fly away but aren’t going to push it this close to comp season. They’ll allow the tuck for now and focus on the lay out when she’s ready and not feeling the pressure of having to get it.

    WAG Fly away-level 6

Thank you, that’s what I thought.

    WAG Fly away-level 6

Does the fly away for level 6 have to be a “straight leg” fly away? In level 5 DD did a tucked fly away because she’s been afraid of hitting her toes. She’s now stressing because she’s been told she needs a straight leg fly away in level 6 and has to have it by the first comp in 3 weeks. Not...

    Hello everybody!

I took DD to see Corteo in June, it was her first time at Cirque and she loved it! We both did :-).

    Parents Gastro on meet day

Level 5, tell them level 5 :-)! As for the competition, I'm so sorry she was sick...ice cream and a squishy make everything better :-).

WAG dry needling for rehab? anyone with experience?

For my DD is was just one treatment, and just a couple of needles. They’re very spoiled at their gym because the sports physio comes to the gym during training hours to provide treatments. She’s amazing!

WAG dry needling for rehab? anyone with experience?

My DD's sports physio did this to aid in the treatment of pulled abdominal muscles and it went well. My DD said it didn't hurt and I can only assume it helped speed up her recovery, in combination with physiotherapy treatment and her exercise plan.

    Parents Gymrep?

My DD's teammate went last year. I'm told she had a lot of fun but the food was terrible. I know a lot of gyms from the area send their teams there so can be tough to get an individual spot.

    WAG JO Code changes 2018-2022

Another confused parent on the flyaway. DD just finished Level 5 and her flyaway is a tucked flyaway, but she said for level 6 (possibly 7) she needs the lay out flyaway, which she apparently got last night. The video above shows the tucked flyaway that she's competed all season in 5, does she...

    Level 6/7 Vault

I don't know, but DD will be level 6 or 7 next season so I'll be curious to see if anyone knows.

    Camp recommendations

@bogwoppit thanks, that makes perfect sense. I think it would be a great opportunity to have fun with her friends and do something she loved at the same time...amazing memories. So wish they still offered it at par! Lol

    Camp recommendations

@bogwoppit coming from Canada, with the exchange rate, do you feel IGC worth the money and travel? I know the kids have a blast and I feel it would be a great experience for DD’s team to do together but do they gain skills, knowledge, etc to make it worth it? Probably hard to answer that, but...

    Camp recommendations

Hey All, there has been talk around DD's gym about the girls attending summer camp as a team. We're aware of IGC and Woodward as well as Gymrep in Quebec. Are there any others in or around Ontario (Eastern Ontario/Western Quebec) that people are aware of and would recommend?

Parents Chiropractic care more common among gymnastics families?

My DD, DH and DS all go to the chiropractor for maintenance. DH is a hockey player (recreational) that has had back issues since he was a teenager, so he's been with the same chiro for decades now. DD started going when she complained of back pain (she also sees a sports physiotherapist too)...
