Quick question - how many of you pay your coaches for bye sessions? For example - if I coach level 3's at 8AM, then have nothing at the 12:30 session, but have level 4's at 5PM - would you pay for three sessions, or two? Does it matter if it is a home meet, or away? Any info is appreciated!
Talk has started at the gym already about sending the head coach, a second coach, and gym owner (who also coaches) to Congress next year (2013?) in order to learn the new compulsory routines. It has been insinuated that the booster club should pay for this. Our boosters are struggling as it is...
I have girls that can do this skill with perfectly straight legs, but when their feet touch the ground they "bounce" a little. I'm wondering how that "bounce" would be deducted? Would it be better to have them drop to a bent leg bridge with no bounce?
Of course, I have already focused on...
We are doing an open house in collaboration with National Gymnastics Day. I think the date is Sept 17 - which is only two weeks into our fall schedule.
The way I read into it, they really are selling the football "ticket" or sweepstakes, but they have to offer the digital entertainment package in order to comply with federal gambling laws.... We used to have a guy at work that sold "parlay sheets" every week, based on NFL. But, he would tell...

It's based on the NFL - you randomly are assigned three teams each week. Cash prizes are given for the top total scores.

I was thinking this would start with the 2012/13 season...so my point is rather mute. However, to keep it in the back of my mind for next year's group: If a gymnast struggles as a first year L5 in the 2012/13 season, and will need a second year to repeat those skils, will they be able to drop...
I just finished coaching our L4 girls season. Of the ten girls, only 2 are repeating L4. There are about 3 that SHOULD repeat - but, due to parents telling gym owner "either they move up, or they quit"....they are now moving to L5. Gym owner has told them to plan on being in L5 at least 2 years...
Good question! We don't require a move up score, although I wish we did - or rather, have it available as a guideline. I would like to be able to say "Our ideal move up score is an AA average of 33 (or whatever the number may be). Although so-and-so is at 32.9, she is having a lot of problems...
Thanks guys! Tried the panel mat drill tonight - saw some improvement. Actually had a few pushing down on the bar for a change. Worked these for a good 25 minutes, then on to the other skills. 10 minutes later, ran routines....and it was like we had never even worked on them. ***sigh*** We'll...
DD's team is really struggling with getting a cast out of their front hip circles. They all have the front hip, but are coming out of them with bent arms. I assist their coach 1x/wk - any suggestions?
Also - what are the possible deductions for having a small, or non-existent, cast after FHC...
I think they were from the dollar store. We didn't make them any smaller - actually, its nice having a bit of room in them so you can lug them around better (we move them when setting up the floor bar on blocks, into pit, for squat-on drills). I think pillowcases would be great!
