Hi there,
I need some advice on helping a kid overcome fear. Firstly, she is scared of sole circle and will bail even with double spot. She does them in straps no problem, and the only other drill I have her work on is pike swings on the real bar.
Her second fear is roundoff back handspring...
I thought I remembered reading something about this a month or two ago, but a search found nothing, so I thought I would ask.
I have a Level 3 athlete training for competition beginning at the end of this month. She took some time off this summer and so was the last one on her team to get her...
I'm 16 and I've been doing roundoff back handsprings since the year I started gymnastics when I was about 10. It's a physically easy skill for me and I'm also capable of doing multiple back handsprings and back tucks and layouts. About 6 months ago I fell on my head during my BHS and after that...
A gymnast who has trouble turning out in everything she does. She is skinny and weak in some areas that don't make much sense to me. She can make 10 presses in a row and 15 straight leg lifts but has trouble with a 30 second hollow and can only make it halfway up the rope. Anyway, she has a...
Hello friends. One of my students is having difficulty with her standing back handspring and I'm having trouble pinpointing the exact problem. For a while I was spotting her often, but she was not improving, so I figured she might be relying on me too much. I changed my strategy and started...
My group of pre-team kids (ages 7-10) are really struggling with bhs and I'm just hoping for some fresh ideas to get them on the right track. Two of the girls have done bhs on their own for brief periods of time, but have gone back to needing a spot. In October on of their teammates had a fall...
Looking through the Code The Pointage, I found some new interesting vaults I have never heard before!
1. Round-off, flic-flac on – repulsion off SV: 2.60P 2. Round-off, flic-flac with 1⁄2 turn (180°) on – Handspring fwd off...
I am working on getting a back handspring on beam, but I need to get it pretty quickly if I want to compete Platinum. Are there any safe, easy drills I can do to work on it at home? I don't have any mats or anything at home.
For 2 years DD has been battling a froggy habit on her BHS. Last year she finally seemed to have it fixed but hurt herself and returned to her froggy ways. Last night she mentioned she was doing her BHS on high beam.
My unknowledgeable and illogical self thinks that a Froggy BHS cannot be...
I remember reading hear that BWO puts more stress on the back than BHS.
DD is currently recovering from lower back stress fracture. We went to the doctor's yesterday, her fracture has healed and she can now start slowly going back to doing the back banding skills. But what had me concerned was...
My daughter basically was allowed at our previous gym to teach herself her BHS. When I finally learned enough about gymnastics to know this was not a good thing and for various other reasons we changed gyms. This gym is working on fixing her BHS. It could be the most painfully slow thing I have...
One of my gymnasts have started to turn sideways in her back handspring, i.e her hands are not on the same line but one is about 10 cm more forward. I hadn't notice this earlier, I noticed it during summer when she started to work on RO BHS-BHS-BHS and RO-BHS-BT. Her feet are not crooked, only...
Why is a back tuck on beam harder than a BHS Series?
I know many L9 girls and all of them
say that the BHS Series is a lot harder than a back tuck!
If you can tuck easily on floor and are exact on the landing it shouldn't be that hard! Am I wrong?
I am having trouble teaching a gymnast how to correctly do her BHS, she has been diving for many years which is causing her to throw her head back and not jump very much. I have done many jump back drills with her with no success. Any ideas or drills for us? Thanks
Has anyone got any psychological advice for me on my back handspring?
When I was younger, for whatever reason, the club I trained with didn't value shaping and skill preps/drills for this skill and taught it through just continuous repetition of the skill with support until you got it. Needles...
I've been having some issues with BWO BHS on beam- more mental than anything else! Are there any drills I can do at home to make myself more comfortable? I have a foldable floor beam "line" I can use. Thanks!
EDIT: coaches, do you prefer your gymnasts to do BWO BHS two foot or BWO BHS stepout...
I have this fear of doing a bhs on beam, I always want someone to stand there because I am scared I will miss my hands or do something crazy like I have done before. How do I get over this fear?
Hi, I'm a L4 gymnast. My coaches always say I twist to my left when I do my back handspring, do you guys know any easy way to fix it? I've already tried turning more to the opposite side, but that doesn't do anything. I could really use some help and information (:
