Parents How to treat rips from bars?

DD got her first real tip from working a kip on bars. Other than tea bags, what’s the best way to treat them and even prevent them?

    WAG Level 5 bars scores

My daughter has not had her first Level 5 meet yet, but in looking at scores from a meet this past weekend, there were A LOT of really low bars score ( 4s and 5s) in level 5. Is this a known thing? I've never seen scores that low and have another child competing 9.

    WAG Uprise on bars

My daughter is struggling to keep her shape in her uprise on uneven bars. Any advise besides, "don't stick your bum out"? Thanks!!

    First E on bars :)

Happy Fall from Canada . :) We have been having record high temperatures in Toronto. Tomorrow I think we have a heat alert. Getting these beautiful temperatures in September that we should have gotten in August. Alex got her first E skill on bars today. And getting close to two Es...

WAG Bruising and bleeding from uneven bars?!

Okay I'm new to this forum so I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct area. I'm a parent of a 10 year old gymnast who just started at a new gym and she is getting more rigorous training, luckily. They are getting her caught up on the uneven bars and she has bad bruising and bleeding in her...

    WAG Level 8 bars

I have a question about one of my level 8's in USAG. She struggles to do a cast handstand pirouette, but EVERYONE seems to be doing that in their routines. Can she do a bail (high to low), straddle back (high to low), or a toe hect (low to high) instead of this pirouette?

WAG Level 8 bars skill question

Can someone tell me what a B skill "with flight" would be on bars? (I'm assuming a turn is a pirouette?) 1 Element (minimum of “B”) with flight (the mount is ok) or turn (cannot be the mount or dismount) Thanks!

What is the deduction for being spotted on flyaway? What is the deduction for omitting flyaway?

    WAG L5 Bars

Hello! DD has a Level 5 meet in just a few weeks, and I am looking for some judges/coaches who can take a quick peak at her L5 bars routine (videotaped at a practice). She will be attending a "real" meet in a neighboring state with fall compulsories, but her score at this meet will (hopefully)...

    WAG Evolution of the bars!

Not sure if this has been shared on here before but it's insanely fun to watch! It's cool to see how much has changed over the decades. If this was 1950 or 1960, my kid could go to the Olympics tomorrow!! And ps. Can we bring the Korbut flip back?? Simply amazing!

    Parents Bars question

I am new to this forum but thought it might be a good place to get some information. My daughter is 7 years old and was moved to level 4 team at her gym back in April. Since that time she has really been struggling with making her jump to the high bar. She is very small, only 45 inches tall and...

    Level 9 bars

Is there a way to get bonus for doing a D+B on bars (shootover handstand connected to Chinese sit-up)? Or is it only C+C? My coaches and I are trying to figure out my last tenth of bonus. I am doing a pirouette to shootover (.2) but may have to get that toe shoot connected to double if not...

    Parents Bars for home...

I've read on this site that some people are totally against gym equipment at home. But, I'd like to buy my daughter a kip bar for her to practice on at home (with me spotting!). She's 5 years old. Any suggestions?

Parents Puma Jr makes bars event finals for USAIGC Worlds!!!

Thank you to all who have asked and sent well wishes! It wasn't a great meet overall, but nothing tragic, nothing below 8 and AA above 34, so it could have been worse. But she did place 3rd of 44 (yes FORTY FOUR kids in the age group...) so she made event finals for bars! She was disappointed...

    WAG Level 7 bars

While i was looking for information for a thread on level 8 bars, i found this in the cheat sheet: Would it be possible to do a low-bar only level 7 routine? I think so because there is not a "minimum of 1 bar change", like there is for levels 6 and 8. This is just out of curiosity, since i...

    WAG Level 8 bars

Are shootovers and double back dismounts commonly competed at level 8? I ask because historically DD has struggled with bars, but she is doing those skills nicely without spots. No way can she do a pirouette because her kip casts are very sub par. Her free hip is improving and looks like it...

Parents Region 8 Bars level 6

We are getting nowhere on bars. In our area only 1 gym has a great bars coach, but then only 3 of their 12 level 6 girls are good or above average for the area. I know there is no magic bullet for improving bars. It's heavy conditioning, drills, strength and repetition. What do you do if you...

    WAG Level 5 Bars Requirements

Hoping somebody can help. We are moving to the States from the UK and my daughter will be competing with a club in South Carolina. We were looking up skills for various levels on bars but depending on where you looked they were different. I thought USAG Levels were the same across the...

WAG USAG Level 8 Bars requirement questions

Hello Everyone I am coaching all of the upper levels at my gym this year. I had a question about the USAG level 8 bars routine (and requirements). I understand all of the requirements, but: 1) The routine requires 4 'A' and 4 'B' skills. Can we replace an 'A' skill with a 'B' skill? (so have 5...
