In the beginning when you have to swing your dominant leg over the beam and it has to be straight mine is always bent how do I get my leg straight on those and on leg cuts.
My DD is in a very large group and doesn't get help like she needs. She only goes 1 day a week and can't get the routine down. They only practice beam about 20 minutes.
My daughter has been put into IDP 2 (was in National 2). She is competing in just over a week and only just started learning her new routine last night. She is 8 and does pick things up ok but this is a whole new level with lots of new element that she has not done before.
so if anyone knows of...
Can you do say a BWO/BHS series and then a RO/BT dismount in a level 6 or 7 beam routine? Then for the jumps a split leap split/ jump combo or is that too many "b" elements? All in the same routine. Just wondering not saying that is the plan or anything DD was just asking.
I am the only level 8 at my gym and I am making up my beam routine. I have a good coach be she is not as experienced with optionals and I just need some advice on choreography. I do:
Pike mount
to tuck stand
full turn
step 1/2 turn
switch leap
3/4 straight jump
bhs, bwo
pose
hurdle cartwheel...
Bhs (B) + back layout to two feet (E)? series .2 bonus
bhs (B) + bhs (B) full (B) dismount
Coach says even if gymnast can compete both skills well, the bhs bhs full dismount is better to have in the routine because it is more progressive and a higher level skill since very few do a series...
I'm a prep op gymnast, and i'm having issues with my beam routine two weeks before the next meet! But I have a TON of extra space before my dismount on beam. I have no idea what to put in.. my dismount is a round off (got down graded due to pain while landing).
But my other skills are...
At the meet this weekend, I saw a lot of variation during a part of the routine. I hoped to come here to find a definitive answer.
After the gymnasts levers into and out of the handstand, she runs and locks into position to execute a half turn. This is where my question comes from. Some of...
Hello all, would love for some good wishes especially for older DD this weekend. She is doing a new-ish beam routine (has taken out the BWO and is adding cartwheel-cartwheel or cartwheel with handstand...can't remember). She has not stayed on beam yet this season so would LOVE some stay on the...
My coach has all of us level 8's do two acro skills in our beam routine (usually bhs and ro) and has us put one in a series. I've been told that there is a small deduction if your only have acro/flight in the backwards direction and not in the front/side way. Is this true? If I only had a back...
Here is a video of Kyrie practicing her Level 7 beam routine, still needs some work but hopefully by January it will be great.

Which is the correct way for the lvl 3 routine? I've been told to teach it both ways by 2 different coaches. After the handstand take 1-3 runnning steps, pivot, and then split jump or after the handstand take 2 running steps, pivot and then if you landed with the wrong foot for the split jump...
Does any one have any ideas or poses for making a level 8 beam routine? Also, how long is one supposed to be and what are the required elements?
Thanks!
-Lauren
It has been a very long wait, but my DD finally got her beam routine. It has a lot of poses, so she will need to practice it over and over again. She did have one move that the choreographer almost gave her, where she kicks back with a bent leg, and almost touches her head to her foot...
I made a video with one of the junior coaches who made up a routine for me.
She kind of skipped through the cartwheel so I'm not sure if this was a quick skip or she actually wanted me to use this in the routine..
She had one leg straight and one leg up in the air, very vertical, and her hands...
The past 2 times I tried to make a montage, Windows movie maker has not been cooperating....so here is just the plain old video. I also missed the beginning of her mount. This is LM's Bronze level routine for USAIGC from last weekend's meet. Thanks for peeking!

what are the time minimum and maximum for a level 9 beam routine in USAG? My friend's routine is about 45 seconds including bonus jumps. She has very little dance........Is this fine?
Hi all, just have a question on the "leap" on the level 5 beam routine. DD is very small, and has a much longer torso then she has legs. She is getting completely freaked out by her leap, because her beam coach hates her leap. Not exaggerating.... She gets compared to other girls who have legs...
