I coach a recreational gymnastics session and there is a child who is scared of doing fwd rolls. She isn't the lightest of people, so it may be that she's afraid of collapsing on herself. I've tried to get her to do them down a slope and on a tumble track filled with air, but she just can't get...
Is there any research on how long of a rest period a child's muscles should have before going back at it, for fastest strength gain? Or if no research, do you guys have educated guesses?
Should they be back to 100% before going back at it? Or should they go back at it still sore?
I found "Geddert's Conditioning" and really like it.
As I was reading through it, I noticed that there are only 4 Levels listed. I guess these Levels are just 4 Levels of strength but not belong to the USAG Levels 1-4!
My older DD is a Level 8 and she would be somewhere in between L3 and L4...
Really. I don't. She's a lovely child. Almost 10 years old. Very bright. Destined to make me lose my hair and gain wrinkles or an ulcer.
She's had a fear / mental block about jumping to the high bar for about 8 months. Came out of nowhere. One day she was squatting on and standing on the...
What is the difference beteen child L and adult extra small or small Leos? My child is 6 and her torso is long. She complains that some of her child L leos are pinching into her shoulders.
I have 3 children, 2 girls and 1 boy, all in gymnastics.
For DS, who is a Level4, it seems that the point to quit will come soon. He had fun as a toddler, but now he is 9 and all of his schoolmates play soccer etc and he is just not really excited to go to practice and doesn't want to learn new...
DD is a Level 6. She trains 3 times a week for 3 hours. In the first hour, they always do the same conditioning routine.
My sister's girls are both Level 7. They train 4 times a week, but just do conditioning twice a week for 40minutes.
Here is what DD does with her team:
10 minutes warm-up...
Recently we got together with some friends of ours who have a daughter who is at a similar level of gymnastics to my daughter. The other girl did not stop practicing her cartwheels, handstands, bridges, etc. After seeing this I asked another friend if her daughter practices at home and she...
My husband and I are super frustrated with our daughter. She is in first grade and will be 7 in a couple of months, so she's still young. She is immature for her age behaviorally as far as being silly and having no impulse control. She has been diagnosed with ADHD and has a learning issue too...
there is a judge in pa, that everytime she judges my DD, she gives her the lowest scores! i swear she either hates my DD or is judging her poorly because of the way I look. I am gothic and have some facial piercings (not all out like some people though). Last season she did her floor routine...
I hate writing about 'problem children' because I really do believe that ALL kids are good and sweet, BUT,
There is a girl on out team who is about 8, and she has major behavior problems which not only affect the class, but really exhaust the coaches. She argues with correction, makes faces at...
Dd just got her new Comp leo and there is a lot of cut fabric on the inside due to the design. She says it is a little scratchy so I figured maybe we would try a liner. We will have to order one online, where they are not returnable, so before i did, I just wanted some input on experiences. She...
My youngest dd was sick in the early hours of the morning, she has caught a bug from me :( Dd is the type of child where nothing much knocks them down. Dd doesn't have practice today and if she did she wouldn't have been going in even if she isn't sick anymore as I believe that she needs to eat...
Hi! We'll be visiting families next summer (Memphis area) and thinking about sending dd, 10 next year), to gym camp. FlipFest is the closest that I know of and so that will probably be where she'll go if she goes.
Issue: We're stationed in the UK. So dd will be the only one going from her gym...
Long term I mean? Can you really tell at age 7 if they have the "ability" or whatever to even have a chance of making it to level 10? Does how they perform at that young age tell the tale of what will be (all other things being equal) down the road? What qualities (physical and otherwise)...
One of the groups I coach consists of 12 gymnasts born in 2005. 5 of them are from my old group and the rest are from other groups. Skill wise they are all pretty equal but there is one child from my old group who has much lower strength level than others.
Last year it wasn't really an issue...
I just had a mommy meltdown with DD today due to her excessive talking with her friends at gym. Let me preface my situation. I am NOT a cgm who pushes my DD to perform. I love my children regardless of what they do. But sometimes, and it is usually tied to when I have to write a big check to...
I thought the yoga scorpion pose was it for my two. Ewwwww! It grosses me out so much, even more than when they hyperextend their elbows or walk around the house in bridges. But now they have a new thing. They get down on hands and knees. They start with their fingers pointing straight ahead...
