Newbie here :)
How involved is your gym/owners/coaches involved in the college process for their gymnasts?
My DD is an 11 year old L 7/8. Finished her L6 season with over 38's in 6 out of her 7 meets and a Regional title on beam :)
I know it's early to think about college but it is her dream...
The new coach is Sarah Shire Brown. She was first alternate at the 2004 Olympuc trials.
Her mom used to post here and was one of the first to post about the difficulties if D1 college gymnastics. Sarah transferred from Utah to Missouri after a difficult freshman year. I hope she has learned...
Just looking to compare. We have 3 coaches who coach our optional teams -- but one of them coaches the boys optional teams as well - and the other two also help coach the compulsory levels and excel from time to time.....Our optional girls aren't that many -- an estimate would be 14 girls from...
If a coach gives a gymnast corrections - and the gymnast doesn't follow through - is this a fault of the gymnast, a fault with the coach - HOW do you fix this?

So both my gymmies came home crying from practice yesterday :(
ODD is stressed because she hasn't gotten her giants yet. She repeated L6 this year because she didn't have them yet. Weirdly bars was her BEST event at L6 (scoring 9.2-9.4 all year); she even came in 1st at state. She has had a...
I need to say, if you know the name of the gym involved in this coach's recent charges, please keep it anonymous, it doesn't need to be said.
So yesterday, a coach at a gym in my area was arrested and is currently in custody (pending a DNA test) for charges of attacking woman on a local...
What is a reasonable/customary ratio for a Level 8/uptraining 9 bar rotation? It seems our (great) bar coach is stretched beyond capacity with this group of girls, and DD can go through an entire bar rotation without ever being spotted on needed skills or receiving any coaching feedback. How...
Hi! I'm still fairly new to CB and gymnastics in general. My 5yo DD has just finished her first season competing Xcel Bronze. She had what I consider a successful season for a 5yo. Her AA score improved each meet, and she really shined on bars.
I'm starting to see a trend with her coaching that...

First time poster here! My dd just recently made a gym switch and while the switch was peaceful and dramaless, we are realizing that the previous gym did a terrible job with teaching form. My dd is realizing this at this new gym and is feeling particularly sensitive. Also, while our previous gym...
Northfield Gymnastics Club (NGC) in Northfield, MN has a 14,000 square foot facility. It has 4 girls teams that compete in Midwest Amateur Gymnastics Association (MAGA) and is the feeder program for the local high school gymnastics team. They also have two boys' teams, one that competes in MAGA...
My daughter is 6 and on the L2 team at her gym.
All of the compulsory levels have been through a whirlwind over the last two months. They lost a beloved coach that has been there for many years for a personal reason of hers, had a new coach that got fired in a matter of weeks, and now another...
DD (9) is training level 4. Her gym has a very small team program and she is in a mixed level training group of which DD and one other girl are the only ones who competed level 3 last season -the rest are all higher levels. The gym has never had high standards for competition -does not win...
Hi,
This may be more of a vent, so I apologize in advance.
My daughter's level 2 team coach just recently left. She was also the main compulsory coach. This coach was tough. She was no-nonsense, strict, and had high expectations, but the girls seemed to thrive on this kind of coaching. The 7...
A full time coach is needed in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area. Full time or part time is accepted. Spotting, hands on training and technique will be emphasized. Asking for previous gymnastics and spotting experience. We will provide a negotiable salary/ pay. For serious inquiries, please...
My ODDs coach has offered to write her a recommendation saying she's ready to compete X level etc.- for when we move, to take to a new gym. Is that something we should take her up on? My girls other coaches would be willing to do the same for T&T and rhythmic respectively. Just not sure if it...
