Just wondering how well "funny" moves are accepted in floor routines? DD has a lot of... shall we say...personality in her new level 7 routine. I'm not so sure it looks good. But her coach choreographed it for her. There is one move in particular that DD & I both don't care for ( a fake fall)...
We have a small optional team, 1 or 2 girls, if one coach takes a special interest and uses her artistic talent and time to choreograph a floor routine; should the coach be paid extra for this choreograph or is this just part of the job. How is this handled at other gyms?
One other questions...
Does anyone have video of the old Level 4 floor routine? My daughter was trying to remember the routine/music (she was on pre-team at the time), and I can't find a video clip of it. If anyone could post one to share, that'd be great. Thanks!
My gymie is level 7 and competes USAG. We are wondering if it would be better to do a full or layout on her first tumbuling pass. She is currently doing for her first pass RO BHS FULL and the third pass is RO BHS LAYOUT. Her full is good probably better than her layout but, is only scoring low...
My daugher just choreographed her level eight floor routine. I watched as it was being done. The music was a combination of Flamenco, Malaguena and modern synthesizer. I was captivated by the artistry involved in creating the choreography moves with the cut music. It was like watching a...
I'm trying to help my dd pick her new floor music. She found some new ones we downloaded today. Just wondering what you think of the following selections: Phantom of the Opera, Pirates of the Carribean, Theme from Hawaii 5-O, Don't Cry for Me Argentina, Lord of the Dance, and (drum roll...
Hi.
I'm a gym dad with an eleven year old daughter entering level eight. It is already 10/1 and my daughter's coach has not chosen any music for my daughter's routine or choreographed the skills and dance with the music. I am beginning to feel a bit anxious as our first meet, Judges Cup, is...
Could someone tell me how long the level 7 floor routine needs to be? We are starting to look at music and need to know what the time requirement is.
thank you
USAG Floor Routines?
It's so interesting to see how USAG chorographed (sp) them where it's the same routine with increasing skill variations. Do you think that was to just avoid confusion in learning /teaching it or help gymnasts progress faster through the levels or a little of both. KWIM?
Here's a great little video of some UCLA floor routines:

They have some great (unusual) routines there. Ariana Berlin's is the best, but I haven't been able to find a video of it. If anyone ever finds one, please post it.
My dd just had her first ever floor routine choreographed this morning. She had a blast!! I dropped her off at 12 and came back at 1:50, just in time to see a couple of final run throughs set to music. I know I'm a *smidge* biased (lol) but it was absolutely the most adorable thing I've ever...
We just had her new level 8 routine choreoe'd. It's going to be so cool. Gymbabi likes very dramatic music and Laura (choreogrpher) likes really dramatic moves. I can't wait to see it when she has it all down perfectly. She knows all the moves but still working on timing. She has decided to use...
