Tinker Bell, repeating L3, is working kip-FHC with the hope of competing a kip later this season. She says that when she kips straight into her FHC, the kip does not put her in the right position to do the FHC with straight arms. She insists that her kip has straight arms and that her kip-cast...
In the level 3 beam routine, what is the deduction for not getting your handstand vertical? What about not kicking to horizontal? There are probably more technical terms for this. Sorry :)
If they do a kip instead of a glide/PO, is it a kip/cast/FHC or kip/FHC? ODD competed her kip yesterday for the first time and scored a 9.1 (yay). I thought her coach said it was a kip/cast/FHC, but she only did a kip/FHC. It was a last minute decision, so I'm not sure if she knew what to do.
on the L3 bar routine, does anyone know what the "requirement" is for the "tap" they do with their feet on the mat before they do the pullover?
DD is very short and after she does the initial swing thing (not sure what it's called) she very quickly swings back then swings forward to do her...
DD (8) will be repeating level 3 and has her first meet in a few weeks. From the score ranges given at her in-house meet it looks like she might not score well at all this year -despite the fact that she's repeating. The ranges given to her were 7.5-8 for 2 events and 8-8.5 for 2 events...
We are in WA state and have recently switched from a gym that competes winter compulsories to a gym that competes fall compulsories. Is the age cutoff date for level 3 the same for both? If I understand the ages correctly, she barely makes the winter cutoff--she will be 6 on March 30. I cannot...
I tried doing a search on here, but didn't see too much about L3. Is there a good source for what the judges look for during the routine? We were very confused about the judging at a meet this weekend and wondering what I'm missing (probably a lot :p). Thanks!
I have never had a kid at this level have this issue before, and she's struggling to fix it so I am hoping for some words of wisdom to perhaps better explain the problem to her.
She is competing Xcel Bronze, but essentially the level 3 VT. They compete onto a 32" mat stack- we do not have...
So, YDD suddenly developed a fear of her ro-bhs on floor :( Well, I mean in her defense, she thought someone was behind her because she "heard a voice" and stopped in the middle of her bhs and landed on her back. I wasn't there to see it, but her coach explained the situation and YDD is still...
Just a question for other coaches or parents of gymnasts with fear issues.
I have a new level 3 (8 years old) with loads of potential. But suddenly she had developed a fear for her back-handspring: both standing and connected to a round-off. She was doing it all summer and early fall, and then...
My dd is 7 and is about to finish her level 3 season with her state meet a week from Sunday. She has had a great season overall with some great scores and high placements. I think she is doing great! I am asking this question just out of curiosity. I am not questioning her coach or her gym... :)...
Sorry if this post makes me sound like a crazy person, but I can't sleep and I'm curious. My DD has been on pre team for a month now and she's doing great! (Yay!)
Team try outs are in May (yeah I know, that's a while from now, hence the "I'm not crazy" disclaimer)
My question is, what is the...
Can anyone enlighten me as to the deductions for any the following on L3 bars:
- Bent arms at end of FHC
- Extra cast before shoot-through
- Ending up hanging upside-down under the bar after shoot-through
- Squeezing bar between legs at end of mill circle
- Awkward leg cut with tummy leaning on...
Hi there,
I'm wondering if it's "better" to compete a front hip circle with bent arms or use the spot in an attempted (but probably failed) front hip circle with straight arms.
My daughter can reliably complete a front hip circle with bent arms and equally reliably fail to complete a front hip...
We are at a gym with a very small team program -8 level 3s this year. Fewer in levels 4 and 5. We just learned that our entire level 3 group will stay together as a training group for next season but some will compete 4 and some will repeat 3. There will also be a new group of 3s (coming from...
What is the deduction for ommiting the bhs in the level 3 floor routine? What about if it was spotted? What about the deduction for bent arms in the bwd roll to pushup?
Looking for opinions/thoughts on Level 3 vs. Xcel Silver. DD will likely compete one or the other. We are in a region where Xcel Silver is used by some gyms (including ours) to replace compulsories. But, part of me thinks there may be some benefit for her doing Level 3. (focus on shapes...
Asking this on my daughters behalf because she coaches level 3 but doesn't have an account. She came home today wondering if it was worthing having one of her level 3's compete a kip at an upcoming meet this week. She doesn't have it consistent with straight arms, but thinks with the pressure...
