Kadee had her first Level 5 meet tonight.
She had some really rough spots and some times where she really shined.
First was floor. The ROBHSBHS looked really bad. RO was nice, first BHS was okay..legs way apart and knees bent. Second BHS was just scary to see. She is still having this block on...
This comes out of a discussion tonight. What is the general train of thought on arm circles, which is better, large or small? What is currently being taught? If a gymnast is doing one type and another type is now being taught, does that hurt the vault score?
Sorry for being so general.
Have any of you ever seen anyone vault on 95 cm in a meet? My little dd has a great vault on 95, but not as good of vault on 100 - just wondering if it happens... I explained to her that it is only 2 inches, but it does affect her a little bit mentally and physically. Any thoughts...
My daughter is a 1st year level 5 & I was wondering if it was better for her to connect everything on bars or pause to get a hihger cast and more momentum, specifically after her kip to the high bar. She can't seem to do both yet.
Okay, my DD is 7 and will compete L5 this winter/spring. She is small for her age. (about 5% on height and weight). She gets up and over the vault, that's not an issue. (at the right height and without a spot). She may look like a sway back horse going off the back end..but she gets it done..lol...
I have a very tall Level 5 gymnast. The bars do not go out far enough for her to not hit her feet on the low bar when she does her tap swings (she is 5'4''). The bars at our gym are fine, but when we go to meets they always have bars that don't go out far enough. One of the judges said our home...
My round off two back handsprings always seems to be better out of a power hurdle than from a run. Are you allowed to compete the routine with a power hurdle? Will they take any deductions?
I have a question about the level 5 dismount on bars. My daughter has been told different things by her different coaches, and I was curious what the "correct" answer to her question is. She turns to her left when dismounting. What are her hands supposed to do? First her right hand. One...
Just curious- is there a standard deduction, as in 2.0 or something like that, for a full spot over the vault table? I am talking about gymnast runs, hurdles, straight jumps and the coach assists with the handspring portion of the vault. Not so worried about scores, really, just curious if...
Just a quick question,
Are you allowed to do a sole circle (stoop circle, dunno what it's really called, basically a squat-on and then you go around the bar and then jump to the high bar)
In level 5 or 6 without a deduction?
Thanks!
My little on has started working her Level 5 vault with her coach and attempted (and hit) her first double back handsprings today. Watching her get new skills is like watching her at Christmas. I <3 gymnastics!
Hello-
Just created a new group for parents of kids competing and training L5 in the group area. If this applies to your DD/DS and you have at least 30 posts on the CB you are welcome to come join. It's a private group you will have to apply, but will be accepted if you have a post count of 30...
I did my Level 5 dismount for the first time ever 2 years ago at camp. I did it onto a mat and I landed it! :D So, last gymnastics class, when they told us we were going to begin practicing Level 5 dismounts over the pit, I was excited. They taught us how to do them, and then set up stations...
okay when I do a FHS on the vault im arching down and im not sure How to fix it ... And I have a fast run and my coach says to keep my toes up but I dont understand how to do that .. Any advice ??
My son competed in level 5 this year and qualified for regionals. However he didn't do that well in regionals, so the coach decided to keep him in level 5. Now he says that he is borded and that his summer training isn't challanging. One thing i noticed is that he is only training 9 hours while...
Im a level 5 Now and I have been having problems with Bars ... When I Do my kips I always put my hands to close and I Can fix it on low bar but When I get to high bar I have a hard time Connecting my back hip circle .. Any Advice ??? :o
Hey all.. thought I'd post one last update since you all were so helpful w/ your comments before. When I went to pick DD up from gym tonight the owner came over and talked to me and they want DD to work out with the level 4s 3x a week and then the level 5s once a week this summer. So, 4x a...
