why do the eastern regions have 16 age groups when the western region L9 and all level 10 is based on 8 age groups? I realize the same total number of gymnasts advance to nationals (east/west) but was curious why east doesn't just adopt the 8 age group system to coincide with L10.
Does anyone know where to find the live scoring for Region 8? We have a friend competing this morning and the website says they will have live scoring but I can't find a link or anything. Thanks!
This is my gymnast and her bar set is a work in progress, but I am super stoked with her. So please be nice.

DD's 1st event was bars, which has been coming along all season but inconsistent in her dismounts (double pike), usually over rotating. She did a really nice routine, right up to the end, where this time, she under-rotated and fell - 8.575. Beam was 9.4 with a couple of wobbles, 7th place...
I was hoping my DD would qualify for L9 states in her first year. She is not typically a high scorer. Well an injury in Dec. cut her meets down to 2 to qualify. Her 1st L9 meet wasn't awful but AA was 29.05 (beam, UGH!). Now she only has one more shot to reach 32 to qualify for state meet. I...
Is a clear hip handstand needed? I have looked over requirements and I can't seem to figure it out. My DD has one in her routine but doesn't usually hit handstand so I am wondering if she would score better without it.
She does-
kip cast handstand pirouette, kip cast squat on jump to high...
Ugh, wrote a whole meet report and IE went crazy.....
Little Monkey had a great day! She loved being part of a TEAM. And Team took 2nd :D
Started on bars with shaky warmups. Not sure of SV but not 10.0 because she does a kip/cast after pirouette before baile. Didn't quite hit handstand...
I always hear different opinions on this matter. Do the high level optionals at your club do back walkovers as a part of their regular training? For example...do your L9/10's have a basic slow tumbling warm-up/complex that leads them through front & back walkovers?...or do you keep away from...
My daughter competed her 1st L9 meet last week. The coach took out her double pike and replaced it temporarily with a full and a half. She was over rotating the double back tuck and under rotating the double pike. Next meet is in a month. So hopefully, she has time to tweak it. Anyway, her...
My youngest has her first level 9 meet tomorrow. So it is at home gym and unsanctioned but still competition format. Not sure that she is completely prepared but I can't wait to see her "strut her stuff". I am so proud of her for getting to L9. She was hoping to go last year but coach opted...
Little Monkey finally got her last piece together! She connected her pirouette to baile for the first time yesterday andI was lucky enough to be there to see it! It was her first time trying the connection, even the night before, she told me she might start with pirouette-kip-cast-baile, but...
I completely don't understand the what gets bonus and how much bonus something gets. My DD just says its bonus but doesn't know how much. On beam what is the bonus in connecting the bhs to the layout step out? Also what is the bonus for connecting Switch leap to straddle quarter? On Floor what...
My DD is a first year Level 9. She just recently had her first meet. She was spotted on her double backs on floor and on her shootovers on bars. On floor, she was not spotted on her landing. I think I saw the coach push her up a bit. Some mothers told me it looked like she was high enough...
My daughter did her first full bar routine yesterday. We have a small in house meet next Saturday. All events don't seem there yet. But she seems ok. Having missed a full month of summer's gym practice, I think gives her the reason to be more forgiving if herself. She is a 1st year level 9...
Bhs (B) + back layout to two feet (E)? series .2 bonus
bhs (B) + bhs (B) full (B) dismount
Coach says even if gymnast can compete both skills well, the bhs bhs full dismount is better to have in the routine because it is more progressive and a higher level skill since very few do a series...
Just wondering how the girls training for level 9 this year are coming along. We now have about 4 months till our first meet and are getting closer to getting things together. Bars are proving to be the most challenging - I think we have the routine in pieces but cannot put it together yet...
DD's foreign coach who doesn't speak much english was telling here the below changes were for level 9 and 10 beam, for this season. Are these really coming out for this season?
9 and 10:
Has to have 3 different flight skills
Cannot do a front layout or f.full or f.double anymore, you would...
if i did an aerial round off series and a front layout dismount, would i fufill the requirements. or do you have to tumble backwards? i can do a bhs but i am not allowed to do it because of my back. would a back tuck fufill this requirement? Thanks:)
