I am having trouble with landing a punch front or a front tuck on floor. I need for my gold pass but I always land on my butt. How can I get a more powerful punch or run or get more height or something? I have really good on tumble track and stick it most of the time but when I try to do it even...
Sorry, this is a clueless gym mom question, but my DDs (L3) keep talking about working on their roundoff backhandspings. They seem to have been doing a bunch of progressions :wedge mat- spotted and then not, fasttrack trampoline (I think that is what it is called), and now on the tumble track...
There seems to be some sort of floor move that my 7yo sees the older boys do.
He thought it was called a bazooka punch, but that's not turning up any videos.
Any ideas on what it could be? He sometimes hears things wrong.
My punchfronts on both floor and off beam are very inconsistent. Maybe 1/8 or so. Does anyone have any tips on landing these, getting higher, rotating faster, etc?
While I was looking at various threads on tumbling, something hit me. I actually had an interesting thought (strange I know)
I have decided to try something a little different when coaching my tumblers. For tumbling, I see 3 ways for the kids to leave their feet. (not including the hurdle)

My coach wants me to work a punch front... I always land with my chest low or on my butt... I can't figure out what I'm doing... I only go on a low beam with a beam pad. I take one to two steps and I'm not ducking my head, I'm sure of that. I focus on opening my chest...
Help?
I can't seem to land this skill no matter how hard I try. At first I thought that I wasn't getting enough height, but now I think it might have something to do with how I rotate? Instead of rotating in the air and coming down, it's like I'm rotating onto the ground because I land on my back/on...
Hello!
I'll make this as concise as possible. A new girl just joined one of my T&T classes, and everything is pretty solid aside from her punch front tuck.
She will not set, and as she punches she starts dropping her chest/looks down...also throws her arms down, basically she tries to...
Okay,
all my girls have GREAT front tucks except one !. She can't get any hights. She has a quick tuck otherwise she would not make it. She finishes in a deep squad.
I tried to tell her low fast punch, but it seems she can't get ANY hight !!Is it a muscle problem ? She can perform a nice...
I am currently learing puch fronts ( and need them for september) i have good hight but i dont get all the way frond and when i do land i land with my back arched an leaninf back. But i dont know how to improve it. Any help would be appreciated.
Emily did it... 2 nights ago she finally actually started going backwards on the high beam by herself. I am so proud of her. She is still very apprehensive about the skill so the form needs some work but that will come as her confidence improves... 4 practices till first level 6 meet and I...
I am working on front tucks right now, and I am sooooo close to having it on the rod floor. I know, though, that I have a little ways to go before I have it on the spring floor... I'm pretty antsy to get this skill (making some progress every week thankfully!) and I only can be in the gym one...
For front tumbling passes, do you prefer to have gymnasts start with a front handspring or punch straight into the first salto of the pass?
I've seen it done both ways by many gymnasts. It seems to me the punch is easier to do correctly, while the handspring, if done right, provides more power...
