I know L6 beam requires flight or a series. Can the series include the dismount? In other words, would a BWO-BT dismount fulfill the requirement? If not, would HS-BWO count as a series?
Hey all!
I have a unique situation where I work for a school district as both a high school and community ed coach. They just built a really nice gym, but it's barely being used (just the high school program for ~10 girls and three or four community ed classes every few months).
While this...
What do most gyms require for girls to move from level 3 to level 4? Our gym requires that the girls get a 36 AA at a meet to progress to level 4. Is this about right or harder than most gyms? Most of the girls on the team are struggling to get this and it seems to be causing stress for both...
My daughter had a meet this past weekend and fell on her cartwheel and forgot an element (she calls it the grapevine although I'm not sure that's the technical term). Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for what deductions she received for that. I know .5 for the fall...
Is it normal for the mobility to be so subjective? Where my daughter gyms, they compete starting at L2 so a few years ago she was invited to be on the L2 team. She didn’t have an amazing season but she fell in love with competition. She was held on L2 to compete a 2nd year. This proved to be a...
I don't understand all the symbols and codes...but this is what DD has and I am not sure if it is enough:
spring board to high board
kip to handstand
hopefully a tkatchev (inconsistent with it)
Pirouette to shootover to handstand
Chinese situp to kip/handstand
double giant
double layout dismount...
My DD is 6 and was in a Rec Beginner class for a year and a half at a large, competitive gym. They would frequently evaluate her for Pre Team or moving her up to Level 3 but always said she wasn't ready. She has her pullover, hip circle, RO and bridge kickover. She has excellent lines and pays...
Am I understanding correctly that a gymnast who has competed USAG Level 3 Compulsories last season must enter into the Xcel program in Gold or can they do Silver?
Hi,
My daughter, whom just started gym this past fall is supposed to move from pre-team to level 4 after summer. She just turned 6 this summer. I was told by a coach that she cannot compete because you must be 7 in order to compete level 4.
I do see this same info reflected on the USAG...
I just moved to xcel Platinum and I'm wondering if these routines would have a 10.0 start value
Vault: half on-half off
Half on-full off
Bars: kip, cast, clear-hip, squat on, kip,
cast, clear-hip, tuck flyaway
Beam: leap switch leap, full turn...
Hey there!
In a pretty competitive state. I have been hearing some pretty tough skills will be required for L8.... anything official coming out of USAG? Ive looked around and can't find anything......so this is what I've been hearing.
Beam, switch connected to BT,
Series, with a BT, or LO...
Hoping somebody can help. We are moving to the States from the UK and my daughter will be competing with a club in South Carolina. We were looking up skills for various levels on bars but depending on where you looked they were different. I thought USAG Levels were the same across the...
Hello Everyone
I am coaching all of the upper levels at my gym this year. I had a question about the USAG level 8 bars routine (and requirements). I understand all of the requirements, but:
1) The routine requires 4 'A' and 4 'B' skills. Can we replace an 'A' skill with a 'B' skill? (so have 5...
Level 6 Beam: So could a beam routine have a back walkover, not a back handspring? What skill value is a back walkover on beam? Would this routine meet requirements- BWO, backward roll, beat jump connected to sissone, full turn, cw bt? If that doesn't fulfil, if I replaced the full turn with a...
Assuming the split is actually at the right angle, can you get SR credit for doing this?
And adding on, would a fouette hop to a wolf hop work as a jump series?

So I have not had to deal with this in a while as I have been re-building a program from compulsory. If I remember correctly, didn't optional levels have a difficulty requirement for Element Groups ( Level 8-A Level 9-B Level 10-C)? All I can find in the JO program is dismount requirement...
Question about level 8 floor requirements - I haven't coached floor in a few years so I'm not very familiar with requirements. Another coach told me they thought a twisting element was required (back 1/2 or full), but from what I read these are the requirements along with 4 A's and 4 B's:
One...
