Hi, does anyone have any good drills on round-off's? particually the rebound and my coach tells me i close my legs too late so any tips/drills on that? is there anything i can remember in my mind that will help me? normally when going into a round-off i try to remember t-shape hands, pop...
I don't do my round-offs in a straight line like you would on beam. As I got more power I naturally did a half turn before I landed. My coach says this is okay, but everywhere I look it says it has to be straight to go straight. What's right? And does it really matter?
I'm trying to work on a roundoff on beam. I am a righty and i know my right foot is supposed to land in front of my left on the beam. But for some reason.. I can only get my left on the beam. I'm not scared to put the other foot on, but it just wont go on. Any advice? Drills?
Hi I have a friend doing a round off on beam she needs a flight skill to compete but she cant do it. She is afraid to land on the beam. Does anyone have drills or suggestions?:fluffy::tiny:

This seems to go against common wisdom, but it does sort of make sense, and there are certainly several high-level tumblers that do this (Diego Hypolito is the first that jumps to my mind).
Thoughts?
somehow my question is gone, so here is it again:
Do you teach a good BHS before you add it to the RO ? That is my opinion but our headcoach..long story short..insist to teach the BHS directly from the beginning with a RO....???
Can anyone recommend anything at all to help with my daughter's RO BHS BHS? She has a very lovely L5 floor routine but just cannot clean the BHS up...she either has bent legs or legs way apart or both. No matter what she does, she cannot do the BHS with legs straight and together! If she gets...
Hey, I was at gymnastics yesterday and I can do a round off back handspring again! Because I broke my arm doing a standing back handspring about 4 months ago and I couldn't do it or anything else for another 3 months and I just got back into gymnastics about a month ago and I have all of my...
I need some drills for a round off back tuck. One of the girls that I am teaching needs this skill for cheerleading. Any advise would help greatly. Thanks
So last night at gym my coach dislocated her arm and she wanted us to try roundoff back handspring. (Roundoff on the cheese/wedge back handspring on crash mat). I had never even done a backhandspring without the hill (though my coaches thought I was ready to try) and I got it the first time I...
I do hope this is the correct forum, and if it isn't then please feel free to move it wherever it is better suited.
At any rate: I'm trying to focus on getting roundoff double arabians, but I'm having issues with the blocking. I just don't get how to block properly out of it, whenever i try to...
OK, I think I'm weird. I roundoff to the right, but I twist to the left (which is the same direction I guess). I was just wondering how the rest of you twist/tumble.
This is a bit of a basic one BUT I need to hear others on the subject. Background: I coach smallish girls so much of what I do is lead up drills and shaping and spotting through skills/part skills etc. So teaching RO back layout with them from scratch isn't the issue.
In the gym I am working...
My coach is training to be a USAG compulsory judge and she scored my level 4 floor routine. I got a 7.5(not that great but i wasnt feeling well and i know my mistakes) and she said i got killed on my round off back handspring because i have bent legs. i have my first meet in 2 weeks and i need...
I need some help with my ROBH. I am told your elbos are supposed to be straight in the BH. Last time i tried, it happend 2ce so far, i hyperextended both my elbows.. meaning my arms/elbos were locked, and it souldnt take the pressure so my elbows bent, andy help or ides, yes, i no, i need to...
I need some major help, level 4. I technically have my RO BH, but i dont always make it, like my arms bend, and shoulders collapse. My beam dismount is iffy and my split leap is too small. How do you keep straight legs on the front hip circle, i am working to do it with straigh legs, but...
How do u do a roundoff backhandspring? Without hurting yourself? When i go for my roundoff, on floor, i hurt my elbow last time, because i didnt stretch tall to go in the BH. lots of pressure to elbow, my legs are bent, and i am trying to throw my BH. OUCH! any tips???? or drills? Already know...
Most people and coaches I know use a version of the cartwheel hands being hands placed sideways in relation to the direction the gymnast is facing.
Some coaches T-action the second hand in line of the first hand or off line around the side. Obviously on beam it's inline.
Our HC showed me...
I can't find any past banter regarding rebound expectations for compulsory level gymnasts. I have a bit of an opinion difference between my coaching comrade in the gym.
I feel that an arm circle in the rebound (mostly for after BHS, but similar if the RO rebound is for more of a set action)...
Well, the title pretty much sums up the question. Any good drills or ideas for making my roundoff longer? I am landing them down really close togther, so not only do I not get a rebound out of it, but it looks sloppy too. Thanks!!
