I realized yesterday that the dates for our state competition conflict with our school systems' standardized testing. I have never taken any of my kids out of school for a competition; but this one is about 5 hours from us, so I had planned to either skip school on that Friday or take them out...
Why don't some states even accept gymnastics as a high school sport, where as some states make a big deal out of it? Also, how hard would it be to get gymnastics recognized as a sport.
I got some flack from DD's teacher today because she will be missing half of Thursday and Friday. She's only missed 2 other days because of meets. I don't know I guess it just annoyed me. She (obviously) knows we live in an extremley rural area and we have to travel long distances. Unfortunately...
DD will be 5 in a few months. She is currently on what her gym calls preteam, but this is the equivalent of developmental classes at most gyms. Her gym has level 2/3 compete some meets, so level 2/3 at her gym is considered to be team.
I chose her current gym largely because her friend was...
Hello all! I haven't posted much but you were all so helpful the last time I had a question and I still come here and lurk and read what others have to say.
My daughter will be 5 in May. She started gymnastics in September. She is still in the preschool rec class, very close to being moved up...
My daughter is 7 1/2 yearss old, she has been doing gymnastics since she was five and was asked to join the competitive team 2 years ago. Her coach really wants her to join her national stream group next fall, which would require missing 2 afternoons a week of school. Her coach thinks she had...
Ive searched the web and i just cant find the answer. How many girls are needed for a high school gymnastics team? Can anyone link me to the actual rules for HS gymnastics? Thanks in advance.
Hi parents. I have a 6 year old pre-teamer who is in first grade at a regular school, does gymnastics 3 hours 3 times a week (on school days), and dance one day a week, also on a school day. The first month she has done great but I am starting to get complaints-about school being so long, about...
Hey so I am thinking about maybe doing high school gymnastics this year. I actually know all the requirements you need for each event, how many superiors, etc. and the bonuses you need. But I have no idea how to go about actually constructing those routines with the requirements. It seems...
My daughter is part of our homeschool day training. Her brother goes to regular school, so we get him back to school supplies and clothes. For our DD, we get new leos, yoga pants, and sweatshirts. She still gets the joy of "back to school" and gets her pumped for the new season. She also...
I get home from (private) school at 5:30. Team practice begins at 4:45 and if I wanted to compete (which I do!) I don't exactly know how I'd do this. Of course, I would talk to my coach but first I need to know whether this is actually reasonable. Of course I know that education comes first...
I used to do club gymnastics, but i quit because it was simply too much for my schedule. Now i do highschool gymnastics, and was wondering if an exceptional highschool gymnast could get some sort of scholarship for college gymnastics? and if so, I have heard of college gymnasts competing elite...
I know that I have asked before but I am really now down to the wire and need to choose a sound curriculum for my soon to be third grade, gymmie DD. Has anyone heard, tried, used, etc. Tapestry of Grace and/or Sonlight curriculums? I also like Horizons and am looking further into Lifepac...
So I have another problem. I have to takes pictures of me doing things that involve gymnastics. Its been years since I was in Gymnastics. What are some good stretches to take pictures of? I also need to know How Gymnastics helps the Digestive system. I never really learned how it helps. Can...
Hi everybody, let me get right down to it. I've been doing high school gymnastics for two years now and regrettably this is my last year. During these two years I've improved a great deal. However I still don't think I'm quite at college level yet. So my basic question is, now what? I don't...
I recently applied to Stanford Online High School to take advanced courses and help my chances of being accepted to a good college. I was accepted, however, there was no way my family could pay the $9,800 per year attendance fee, so my parents agreed to apply for financial aid.
With roughly a...
Ok. So, I'm switching schools next year (by next year I mean August, when school starts up again) and the last period ends at 3:20. I'll have gym at least Mondays & Wednesdays at 3:30, and from our house it takes 15 minutes to get to the gym. So, at the very earliest, I'll get there 10-15...
Although I still post a fair amount on here, I haven't really posted much about my own daughter since she decided to retire from Club Gymnastics. She IS in her third year of competing for her high school during the winter season, and I am happy she has decided to continue doing that.
She's...
