My DS started at the new gym today. He is starting in a combined level 1,2,&3 class. The class is only an hour long. Although the old gym did not have a boys team or any plans to start one any time in the near future (which is part of the reason we left there) DS attended class twice a week for...
New user, but I have been reading through many threads.
My daughter is on her first year on competitive team new level one usag. We have had a frustrating first year. We are at a very small gym and lost our head coach (she was very good and a judge as well) before meet season even started...
Okay, I know this might sound a little confusing. Regardless of who I ask at my gym, no one really understands what my issue is.
I have both my left and right splits, my right is definitely stronger though.
I can do a RIGHT split jump to probably 160
My left split jump is a mess...like it...
Hello all! I have finally decided to make the dreaded gym switch for Dd after dragging my feet and hoping her coaches would prove me wrong.
Dd is competing Level 4 and is just barely hitting 31 at the meets. This is after a year of being told that she would "score out" of level 4 and compete...
There are many reasons why I want to switch gyms (insufficent/unsafe coaching, unsafe/insufficent equipment, bullied by coach, favouritsm, talks badly about former gymnasts, doesn't care, etc.) but I am having trouble convincing my parents.
They're quite invested with the gym as they are part...
This is just for my knowledge. I was going to ask a friend who judges, but I feel like I am bugging her so much with questions. I know I should get that book...I think DD has improved so much, but I noted the low, front leg on her sl. How much of a deduction is that really? She has to learn...
Are there any technique tips, tricks or certain stretches specifically for getting the BACK leg up in the switch leap. Her leap is 180° but not horizontal so it gets deductions and looks like it doesn't meet requirements. Just workings splits is not doing it... losing precious tenths.
Does anyone have good suggestions for getting a bigger split in my switch leap? I'm really flexible in my legs and can do a 180, maybe even beyond in just a regular leap but for some reason the switching legs just screws it up. Also, can I have some suggestions for Strugs(tour jete 180 with...
I'm going to preface by saying that I know this is premature as DD is 5 and hasn't even competed in her 1st meet. And my questions is all "in theory" if she decides to continue with gymnastics and team. I am a planner, and I like to have all avenues thought out ahead of time, and this has really...
As much as I like my gym, there's also a list of things I hate. *when I'm angry, I don't make sense. Bear with me* Situation: I'm not being pushed or challenged or even corrected depending, even after having a good ol' conversation with my coaches (coach A). I feel the only time I progress is...
My dd (level 4) has one more meet to go this seaon, two if she qualifies for State. The likelyhood of her qualifiying for state is slim, due in part to her coaches and in part, the last meet is likely to be a tough meet.
My dd started gym when she was 3 and she is pretty good. She is...
I'm not sure which one I'm switching to yet, but I can't stand the class I'm in much longer. My mom has signed me up for a trial class at another gym this week that I've been looking into. I have a friend who went there and said it is a good gym, so hopefully it goes well.
My one thing is that...
This year was the first year i have competed, and I was a prep op novice (equivalent to level 4/5 USAG). I am 13, almost 14, so that's why i went with prep op in the first place. But I want to do levels (if that's not what they're called, i have no idea what else to call them.), but how would i...
My daughter competed this in her floor routine for almost her entire level 7 season. At the end of the season we were told that this is possibly a C skill and should not have be allowed in her routine...I'm not sure if I'm describing it correctly but thats what my daughter calls it. Anyone know...
So I've been considering a gym switch for DD for a while now. I think I posted about it a few months ago. DD is 7, competed level 3 last year and did ok. She is not a high scorer, I think her average AA was 32. She has all her level 3 skills but she lost a lot of points to bad form- not keeping...
I'm hoping some of the experts can help with a very tough situation. My daughter's gym has been going through a rough patch. They lost a good coach and have been dealing with coach turnover. What has resulted has been some pretty unfocused practices, and "musical coaches" at the meets...
I was offered a position at a YMCA, Gymnastics Program Director. It is a brand new facility with all new equipment, including a pit. It is a little more money. The problem is, I love the gym I'm at now. I love my co-workers, and my girls. Also, I have a 5 month old baby who I spend my days...
Hey guys,
I was just wondering if anyone could give me advise about switch leaps on beam. I need this skill to compete the next level and its not progressing as I hoped it would. I do them on both the low and the high beam with the pad/beam extender and I have no problem with them. Only when I...
