Hi there ,
Can anyone tell me how much the state tops cut off scores fluctuate from year to year? I've looked and looked and can't find an answer. Thanks in advance
Is it too late to get involved in TOPS? My DD went to a clinic recently with coaches from several states. It was mentioned several times that she should be involved in TOPS, however our current gym does not have a TOPS program. DD has expressed a ton of interest in the program for the past year...
Hi all!
I'm new in Chalkbucket. I have a daughter that just turned 7 and is testing this season in TOPS. Is there other parents here with dd that are testing this year? It seems like there isn't too many girls that test at 7. I've done one test and there was only 3 girls testing. How many girls...
Hi all! My daughter is in her first year of TOPS testing as an 8 year old in a week. She has only been training for about a month and trying to make national testing. What was the cutoff score last year and what would she need to make her dream a reality?
I have noticed a few different threads regarding Tops lately. Is there a Canadian or provincial equivalent to this type of training? And if not, what would be the normal progression/training for girls that make it to the national levels?
Gymnastics is still a mystery so I'm asking out of...
I am considering looking for a gym where my DD could train tops (or the like) in a more intense program. Our gym doesn't offer a lot of hours for each level. What sort of skills/strengths would be expected of a 7.5 year old to enter a program where they train for TOPS testing?
Has anyone heard if they are in fact having a TOPs developmental camp in May? I know of an invite camp but am wondering about the developmental one, that A & B campers can go to.
With the 2015 TOPS season approaching, I created a social group for parents of gymnasts that will test for TOPS. If you would like to join, let me know and I will add you!!
I am really hoping that I'm not overreacting. But I'm hoping some coaches who train girls going this route or parents who's kids go this route can shed some light on this.
After several trials, my dd has finally settled HOPEFULLY at her new gym home. She'd expressed the desire to go the elite...
I am interested to hear how gyms structure TOPs programs-- particularly ones for non-home schooled kids where all the gym time is non-school hours. For example, is it extra days a week completely separate from USAG? is it integrated into regular lvl training hours and girls are split into...
I had posted a while ago about some issues going on at my DD's gym. Other gyms would want her to start competing now as they start competing in lower levels at all the gyms near me. I'm dealing with some other family issues so the fact she isn't competing this year works well for us. Next...
I have heard mixed feelings as to whether its the route to go or not. Clearly if a young girl is in TOPS she is already well on her way to success at a somewhat higher level. My question is though, is TOPS the way to go in order to obtain a very successful career in gymnastics. By very, I...
Do any of you have girls in the TOPS camp? I am wondering, at drop off do you get to bring the girls to their cabin or just drop them off? What type of beds do they have?
What are the qualities/factors you would consider in choosing to move an extremely strong and motivated 7YO lvl3 to a gym that offers serious TOPS training, assuming she'd be accepted? Gyms that offer these options are reasonably further, offer Tops during the day (so she has to be pulled from...
