I was just flipping through my latest issue of USA Gymnastics and saw the group pictures of the National TOPs A & B Team camps! I enjoyed reading the thread a couple of months ago as several in our chalkBucket community found out their girls made one of the teams. I was soooo excited for you...
Hello all you moms, gymnasts and coaches!
I am so happy to finally found a forum where I could share my thoughts, fears and experience!
I want to know: In what amount of time is it possible to get the required skills for TOPs testing?
I know the girls are between age 7-10, but if a fit...
I just love it when all of a sudden a light bulb goes off in my head. My dd has been in a TOPS group ever since she was in pre-team (now in her second year of team). Of course back then I did some digging, found out all the ins and outs of TOPS but could never really understand why these girls...
I've been thinking about my kiddos need to improve strength and flexibility, and I was thinking about implementing some TOPs strength into our workouts. Does anyone know where I can find info (I've looked on USAGs website). I'm looking for basic lesson plans, etc
Okay. Let me preface first that my DD is not a TOPs girl. She is at a new gym that does do TOPs , but Dd is not involved. And let me say that my question is not in regards to any of the girls or parents at DD's gym either.
What I want to know is Why do so many parents put so much stock in this...

My DD will be attending the Tops B camp in Dec. as a 10 year old. Has anyone's daughter ever been to the B camp? Do they test their physical abilities, or is that just A campers? Any advice, tips for my DD?
My dd was just invited to a new developmental group at our gym. They will be training from 7-8:30, two mornings per week. My daughter is 6, and on level 3 team. I know this is a good program, and our gym has been successful with training TOPs. We had something like 8 girls go to national TOPs...
Just curious as I have no experience or real knowledge of the program. DD's gym does not participate in it, yet (to my eyes) appears to have a highly successful program. Lots of optional girls, lots of 10's, tons of recruiters in the gym all the time- it looks like pretty much all of the girls...
DD's gym is considering putting together a real TOPS program with the goal of having the girls make it to testing. They've tried it before but it seems that if 3-4 hours a week are not devoted to TOPS, it doesn't seem to really go anywhere. The problem also is having the time to do it in...
This weekend was our first ever National TOPs testing at the ranch. I have to say it was a great learning experience for my daughter. Truly an amazing experience overall. Now we wait to find out if she did well enough to make Team A or Team B. Keeping fingers crossed bc she can't wait to back...
I was wondering if the physical abilities testing for TOPS is the same as the testing done at the developmental and national team camps? What about levers? I know they are not part of the TOPS testing but our team does them with their TOPS conditioning. How high is the rope climb for TOPS vs...
As a first time participant we were wondering if anyone has any links to videos of what is expected for national testing. It would be nice to get an idea if we are practicing accurately. Thanks so much.
 Sorry.... I thought I was posting here the first time around...

Any suggestions on hotels in the area? I understand that everything is far from the ranch.
Is she allowed to stay...
Thought I would start a new thread to ask some questions to those of you that have been there done that... Our daughter made the TOPs group for 9 year olds...and we are first timers...
1) I have a room booked nearby- or as nearby as possible.... wanted to clarify that we would indeed need to...
