Hi, new parent here. My child just completed National Testing and was wondering what some of the scores were and who made B team. Please. Thank You. Waiting patiently.
Just wanted to say good luck to all the gymmies at National TOPS testing this weekend!!!! My daughter (& teammates) have pretty much been either a basket case or zombies this week! I'm sure all these girls have worked really hard and I just want to remind everyone that as their parents, it is...
Anyone notice that 10 year old beam skills only add up to 9 points on the USAG website? I'm just wondering if they accidentally forgot to put a necessary skill in writing it if maybe the value of something was written incorrectly.
We are new to gymnastics. Y five year old is on preteam. We are in the gym 5 hours a week. Our gym has just decided to start TOPS. Is it worth the $185 extra a month for another 2.5 hours in the gym? I don't want her to miss out, but I also don't want to burn her out since she just started in...
I saw another thread that listed the 10 year old cutoff as a 82.47 for TOPs national testing this year. Does anyone know what the cutoff for the 8 & 9 year olds?
For anyone has a DD who tested for TOPS diamond team this year (age 7), do you have her test scores? Or if you don't want to share the details, do you have the column header names? I was handed my daughter's score sheet without any headers, and I can guesstimate what some of them are based on...
My 8 YO DD will be going to national TOPS testing this October. We are total newbies at this. We haven't even traveled more than an hour for a meet yet! I noticed housing is available at the ranch and hotels are also recommended. Does anyone experienced with this recommend an option? My DD...
My DD did not qualify as a ten year old to National Testing this year but was within a few points of the 82 cut off. I heard there had been some errors in calculating scores for her age group. Could things change or does anyone know if the cut off will change.
How does the scoring work? Do you have to have near perfect scores to generally qualify for national testing? DD just completed testing and I have no idea how this works!
My daughter is very interested in training the elite route and doesn't really care about JO. Right now she is training both, and it is hard for me to understand the benefit of training both at the same time. She will be competing in the spring and learning JO routines. Would it be beneficial...
For those families participating in TOPs this year, how is it going? How are the national testers selected - top 80 in each age group or top 250 all around? Seems like as soon as you "think" you have figured something out, it changes. What would be considered a "good" score?
Our first year...
Just recently there has been a knew trend in our gym for some of the younger gymnasts (age 7-8) to wear tight crop tops and gym shorts (usually made out out of the same material as leotards), what do you think of these? I think they look kind of cute but the gymnasts who wear them have more...
The gym my daughter attends does not have a TOPS program currently. Is this something she could test for by herself? Or does the coach need to have an "official program" at the gym? I'm curious why our gym doesn't do this...we are one of the bigger and more competitive gyms in the area.
TOPs testing starts for my DD in 2 weeks. She will likely do 3 state tests. Then we will have the dreaded wait to see if she will make it to National testing. If she does we will have the added bonus waiting time this year of waiting to see if she makes a team! Good thing I am already bald :)...
DD is 7 this year, and as only trained these skills for the last couple months. She's insanely flexible and can knock out the leg lifts, but really not competitive elsewhere. Her max on press hand stands is 2, and I don't think she's held a regular handstand for longer than 5 seconds, in her...
My never tired, never stop moving, always on the go child came home from her first TOPS training this Saturday, tired. No handstand in the living room. No cartwheels. No bounce, bounce, talk, talk.
She actually sat still and watched TV. :)
I was just given the TOPS team to train at my gym. Can someone give me some info on how you incorporate it in your program or training. Do you do it separate? or in practice ... what plans do you follow (if any) I'm like new to this but like the challenge and want to do it right. Thanks
Just found out the DD's gym is offering TOPS training this summer. I am mixed on this.
How did you decide that TOPS training is right for your DD? It seems like a lot of extra hours. And my DD will be 9 this year in November. I know very little about TOPS other than what I have read on here...
Anyone have kids that have been to a TOPs camp? DD will go to her first camp alone (most likely without her teammates) with her coaches. My wife is worried about DD being alone in the cabins with a bunch of girls she won't know. Any advice or info on what the girls do while they're not in the...
