Hi everyone... I remember seeing in one of Jake Dalton's You tube video that he uses a foam roller to do his post work out stretching. I am nearly certain in that video he demonstrated some of the stretches. I wanted to show it to my son but I can not find it. Anyone know which one it is?
Funny...
Hello, all! I have been working on a project over the last few months to build a replay system for use in gyms, with lots of extra features (freeze frame and automatic hold timer are the big ones). Originally, I'd planned to sell this system to gyms.
HOWEVER, given current events I'm guessing...
Long story short, my husband and I have never purchased a video game system for our kids and have never in our lives used them ourselves. Kids play some things that are available online on the computer, that is it.
Now we are looking for something to keep 2 teen sons and 7 year old daughter...
So what's everybody else playing these days?
I recently played and loved Octopath Traveler; it's been a good 15 years since I enjoyed a JRPG this much. Visually stylish, stunning soundtrack, fascinating lore, loved it.
Thoroughly enjoyed Breath of the Wild, got all the shrines but not all the...
I know they have the 4 screen live feeds right now but wondering when the individual gymnasts/events would be available. I can't remember from past years. It's just too difficult to scan through the 4 event feeds to find particular gymnasts.
So pretty much anybody who follows my posts knows that I'm burning out and looking for an exit from full-time coaching. Right now, I'm working on developing a side gig building video delay/replay/analysis systems. A lot of colleges, camps, etc have these; where you can do a skill, and then watch...
I just came across this video that actually made my day. It's good stuff, mostly things that I already knew and that are repeatedly mentioned on this forum too, but you can never think about these issues too much. I want to be the coach that has the tools to help an athlete to overcome all these...
What do you record gymnastics with? I generally use my iPhone but I’ve been looking at a video camera especially as DD gets higher up in levels. I have a Nikon DSLR but find it so bulky and inconvenient especially with the lens I need for the poorly lit gymnasiums (70-200 2.8f works well but...
Forgive me because this is not relevant to gymnastics, but is a matter about parenting tweens... This morning my 11-year-old gymnast was playing Unicorn, which is a color-by-number app, on her iPhone. She reached a point where if you watch an ad, you get a free picture to color. Following the...
Hello all, I have been a lurker on chalkbucket for a long time, however I just recently saw something that made my jaw drop and want to post it somewhere!
It’s a gymnastics coach’s instagram, where she posts videos of her kids crying and giving “attitude”. What are y’all’s thoughts? I know my...
I have not been active on this board for the last few months as I have not been involved with much gymnastics lately (not by choice: I moved home). However, when I saw this video about inappropriate touching on YouTube, I thought it was too important not to share. It is child safe and very...
My son (9, almost 10 y.o., training L7 in case it matters) and I (40 something and a weenie) have agreed to work with each other on core strength and flexibility - him because it's his gymnastics weak areas, and me because I'm old. :) I used to have some good DVDs (yeah, I already said I was...
Puma Jr has improved her awkward vault run quite a bit, but it still has a long way to go! One of her coaches suggested getting her a running coach, and I have tons of video of my kid obviously, but does anyone have any video or a really nice vault run so the running coach can see what it’s...
After much thought and as a spinoff to What constitutes a braggy parent thread I decided to start a thread allowing us proud parents to post videos and watch videos of all these super hard-working athletes. I have already posted this video in the social forums so it is easier to post it here and...
I am applying to study sports science in university and one of many skills they often test the applicants on in the entrance exam is a kip. I have never even touched a proper set of bars and my skills are limited to a pullover and (very ugly) front and back hip circle that I have learned on...
My daughter is an upcoming senior and a level 10 gymnast. We are looking at D3 schools We are in the process of putting together a recruitment video . I know there are thousands and thousands of gymnast recruitment videos on YouTube. We can probably figure out how to do those too But there's...
