Fair warning, I am old(!)- and when I was a gymnast we couldn't shift our hands in the HS.
I started coaching about 2 years ago, and I have heard and seen different things. Can the gymnast shift their hands from turned in once in handstand?

What are good ways to troubleshoot arch-y backs when coming up into handstand? I have tried everything I can think of over the past few weeks and no luck.

Make sure their hands aren't bouncing off the ground at all; that they're holding their hands firm into the ground.

A drill I really like is "back extension forward rolls" where they start the back extension, but they roll back the way they came so they can just focus on supporting on straight arms in hollow.

You could also try spotting them on a straight arm handstand forward roll slowly with their hands in, so they can feel the shape you want them to hit.
