There were a few gymnasts (from two different schools) that were vocal about Amy Smith's coaching practices when she was hired.
It seemed to be known in the community that there were potentially issues at the time of hiring before athletes spoke out based on athlete turnover numbers.
I believe Clemson did an investigation of their hiring after claiming they had no knowledge of issues when it was pointed out to them.
Several gymnasts did follow Amy to Clemson. The issues seem to be how she treats athletes when they are struggling/not winning.
I believe the incoming head coach chooses their assistants, which is why many NCAA programs end up with an all new coaching staff when the HC leaves.
