I have a 10 year on Xcel Silver. We thought xcel would be a good introduction to competition without the intense pressure of levels. The coaching was terrible right from the beginning, more than half the girls were horribly behaved and the coach seemed to almost encourage it, which resulted in my child losing months of practice time. The first 3 months of the training season, my daughter spent stading in line waiting for her teammates to take their turn. The coach wound up quitting a week before the teams first competition and the program was taken over by the "head coach". I immediately requested a meeting with him and told him that we wanted out daughter on Levels and he agreed to give her some private lessons and help us get her there. He said she needed a clean glide kip and perfect front handspring. We took some lessons with him, but we found that his coaching style didn't work for our kid. He's extremely negative, but never actually gives coaching advice, just harsh words and when he's not being rude and unhelpful, he's downright inappropriate and infantile. He utilizes terms like "Doo Doo Butter" when talking about the girls performance and tells them that they suck and run like they have **** in their pants. I stopped privates with him and sought help from a better coach. My daughter worked hard and got all those skills and performs them with total proficiency. Now the coach is telling me that it doesn't matter that she's got the skills or the time for levels (she's homeschooled), he says he thinks she won't like it and that he doesn't understand why she wants more gym time. She has surpassed her teammates by a mile and they won't let her learn anything new until the other girls catch up. They've started to ignore her entirely and act like they don't even see her. She comes out of gym feeling frustrated, ignored and underwhelmed by the whole class. The entire program has been deferred to the assistant coach, who is very young and wasn't a gymnast and has mo idea what he's doing and the head coach is hardly ever there. My daughter is being left on a back burner like she's not worth a thing to them, and I'm reaching my breaking point as mother. Any advice????
