Im going to be graduating in 2013, Currently I will be entering 10th grade and hopefully competing level 9 gymnastics. Im coming back from a long drawn out back injury and may not even be able to compete this year. I also did not compete last year due to my back injury, but I was able to train for a while. Im also currently not training. But will soon hopefully

My questions are:

1. Could I still do college gymnastics?
2. Would I be able to make a college team?
3. If I don't compete level 9 until im in 11th grade could I still make a college team?
4. I also dont know much about college gymnastics and how it works at all, so if you have any info. on this feel free to post.

Thanks everyone for all your help!

I am not an expert in any way but from what I understand yes you probably could still do college gymnastics. Most big name schools only take elites and top notch level 10's and that is who gets the schlorships. Most colleges are looking for event specialists so maybe you only got to level 9 skills with a low dd on bars and beam but you rock on floor and vault, they might be interested in something like that. this also all depends on are you going to college and just wanting to continue gymnastics during or are you trying to get your college paid for through your gymnastics? If you are looking for s schlorship while not impossible it is harder. Also a bit confised by your post, if you are hoping to do level 9 this year and then have 2 more years before you enter college, what would stop you from possible reaching level 10 or having some level 10 skills by then?

I'm not much help, considering I'm only a gymnast like yourself. However, if you get back into training and competing by your junior year, you should be able to do it in college. I believe D1 schools only take L10 gymnasts with some exceptions, but D2 and D3 schools would love to have L9 gymnasts! Most colleges start recruiting during your junior year, so if your back is better and your competing again by then, you'll be good to go! And if your goal is to be a collegiate gymnast, I'm sure you could achieve it!

This link should help you out alot! It's a parents guide to college gymnastics, although it's good for gymnasts too :)

Thanks everyone for the info so far, Please continue to provide me with more details if possible thanks.

Looking for more input please anyone??:)

Edit:
Also I am looking to get a scholarship from doing gymnastics so I can attend a college.
Do I have any chance at getting one?
