Hi, my roundoffs are driving my coach and I both majorly nuts(for context, I’m a lefty tumbler and go crooked to the left). When I do them from a one step-hurdle, they are fine and go straight. When I do my RO BHS BT(spotted) the pass goes straight as well when I start like that. HOWEVER, if I try running into my RO BHS, I totally switch directions and go completely crooked(my standing BHS is straight, it’s the roundoff). I also have a hard time snapping down enough in my roundoff so that my feet are in front for my BHS(I really would appreciate tips on this too). Anyways, no idea what’s going on. My coach kind of gave up and just told me to start my tumbling passes from a step hurdle after a while, but I’m getting barely any power for my tuck and I want to learn to run in so my skills can develop. It’s odd, because when I run in and just do the roundoff, it looks straight to us, but the second I try the BHS I go the wrong way; it’s like I overrotate the roundoff. I’m wondering if this might have something to do with my knees(one of them naturally turns in, so my knees knock together when I walk); does anyone have any experience with this??? I’m also noticing that when I land my roundoff, sometimes my weight is totally on my right leg and I’ve landed slightly off balance, leaning towards my right. I’m assuming this also has something to do with it.
I totally appreciate any and all help, please leave your thoughts. Thank you so much!!
