We survived the first Level 4 meet and it was surprisingly pretty good! She started on beam and did so awesome, 9.0 and got second (there were 14 girls 7 and under), then floor where she did pretty good, the leap step hop was alittle crazy and the roundoff back handspring had slightly bent legs, she got 8.525 and 4th place. Next was vault which is very hard because she is so small and the springboard seemed so hard for them to get a good bounce, but she somehow got some extra power in the meet and made it, scored 8.8 but didn't place. Next was bars and she has such trouble with her stride circle and didn't make it and sat down her dismount so 2 falls, but still managed a 7.0 (connected her front hip circle and shoot thru beautifully) no place. Her all around was 33.325 and didn't place.

Not too bad for being so small and so young! She loved getting a different color of medal that all of her friends (the silver) but was pretty bummed about bars! She was counted on our team score on every event but bars! We are so proud.

Congrats to your little gymmie! That's not too shabby for a first meet!

As for vault, my Little Monkey was just 6 weeks past her 6th birthday at her first Level 4 meet, weighing in at about 40 lbs. She could not get that "spring" for anything! They eventually 'learn' how to use their bodies to run/jump to get the bounce they need.

Very nice! A 9.0 at your very first meet is VERY cool! Congrats to her! That is a great vault score too, for a wee little one! :)

Awesome job to both Mom and DD! She did great, so nice that her score counted for the team.
