We stretch team and pre-team kids, sometimes to tears. We do it safely and "gently" but definitely to the point of discomfort, especially the kids who are inclined to stop at the first little pull OR get out of their stretches constantly while the other kids sit nicely in their splits...
The older team girls sometimes do partner stretches, we don't stretch them as they are more motivated, experienced and do it well themselves.
