We have been working really hard at extending our glides and have been making progress.

However, I now have one gymnast that has a really powerful glide, BUT has started to arch at the extension. Her head is going back a bit too, which I can work with a bean bag under her chin, but I am having a hard time getting her to not arch without losing the lovely power of the glide.

I used a small barrel last night, and she was able to extend without arching there, but when we brought it back to the bar she did the arch again. Any hints?

Good job on trying to keep the head neutral, as that is a must. A powerful glide takes a stronger mid-section to avoid the arch at the end. Especially shows up with girls with longer and/or heavier legs. Have her only glide to the point that she doesn't loose her shape, and then continue to gain more core strength. Sounds like you are on the right track!
 
I recommend continuing with the barrel drill until they can do many perfect repetitions Ina row with correct extension AND regrouping their hands simultaneously (not one at a time) in the front of the swing. Then they will be ready. The hand shift is the key to lok for to determine if the grip strength and swing mechanics are even advanced enough to attempt the skill without support. When you see the proper swing mechanics move it to three in a row off the barrel with foam in the chin, do NOT start from a jump, start from a hollow push with the feet elevated.


Then spot the children in the front of the swing and also in the back to encourage them to swing higher.

Repetition is extremely important in developing a good swing. You don't want their attempts too far off the mark but at some point they just have to start swinging and figure out the timing. Just swing back to hollow stand on the block if needed.

yep. take some theraband or surgical tubing. make a loop to place over the head and a loop for both feet at the arches. make sure it is tight. when she glides her body will stop at straight. if tight enough, and you'll have to adjust this, she won't be able to arch. the material you use will also press against the back of her neck preventing her head from dropping back/out.
