Hi All, not sure if this is the right group to post in. If not, please point me in the right direction.

So I’ve noticed that at the beginning of my daughter’s kip. When doing her glide extension, her legs aren’t stretched all the way out and her but sticks out.. if that makes since, she’s in a wide V shape is how I can best explain it. I think this is what makes her kip so sloppy and she always has to force herself up on top of the bar by pushing down. I’m sure the coaches have noticed but I don’t see any changes. Any Advice? Does she need to squeeze her butt in during the glide ? Any suggestions would help. Thanks ☺️

Makes perfect sense... she is most likely too weak. More core strength... leg lifts... etc.

Back to our old standard videos...

These videos help a lot . Thank you so much !!!

She is probably 1000 leg lifts away from doing a cleaner kip.

The kip leg lift (from the end of the glide swing to the pike compression) needs to be lightning fast. Kids who lack core strength often cheat the glide swing so that they don’t have to move their legs as far (or as fast) to bring their toes to the bar.

Core strength training—leg lifts in particular—usually solves this problem.
