I'm curious when the gymnasts are encouraged/told to start using the grips. And what's the difference between tiger paws and bulldogs and whatever else is out there? Also, my daughters last coach let the girls chalk up before getting on a bar, but this current one in the next level up-according to my girl-says she wont allow it. Granted, they arent on bars constantly, but why would one allow it but not another?

Most female gymnasts get grips sometime around level 4 or 5.

Here are some threads to read:

Tiger paws are wrist supports made by US Glove. US Glove also makes very high quality grips. English Bulldogs are grips.

Beam deductions

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1
