Also do not know what to say to my teamates- I don't want to accidently influence them into coming to the new gym since they all seem fairly content.

There is no need to say much of anything beyond "I will no longer be training here and will miss you terribly". People have the absurd belief that they must justify their decisions to others. It's just not true. You made the decision - no need to belabor the point and possibly end up in an argument or long, drawn-out discussion regarding your motivation. Keep it sweet and simple.
 
Very true! That's good way of saying it, I'm just a little unprepared for the "why's" I guess.

Anyone asking you Why can simply be told "I felt this was the best path for me.". If they don't accept that, then it is time to change the subject.

Repeat after me "I'm doing what's right for ME. I don't owe anyone an explanation.". Say it 20 times and say it in your head when people are questioning you.
