Proud Parent
changed club after lots of messy issues at end of july beginning of august. New club much more individual focused and very very supportive. dd had lost some fitness and has improved in this area massively over the summer.

Recently had big meet with brand new floor routine - only practiced it for 1 month

well - success - although bad vibes from old club (COACH) who was at meet (and a judge)

Had to qualify on the Friday and hopefully get to final (top 8) for Sunday (not USA)

new coach had minimum score aim for the friday (not happy it was score based - asked her before if she could give dd a target that was achievable so she could feel she had 'achieved' given circumstances- but although 'bad' score - it was exactly her minimum 'target') any way - barely scraped into final (and that was with a point lower score than normal - good execution score but lost elements usually would score) because others injured or pulled out.
On the Sunday - dd excelled and got a pb score in floor final! she is made up and thinking to future!

so pleased we changed - and ex coach/judge did judge fairly - we saw all judges scores broken down - so that is good news!
(other issues though for another thread!)

message is - if you are unhappy (DD said if nothing changes she would quit after xmas) bite the bullet!
our gym was our family for so many years - and lots of flack after changing! - but happy dd is worth it.,.,,

Great news on all fronts Galadriel. So glad the gym change was a great choice and that the first meet went as well as it did. Making floor finals has to be the best, talk about a chance to shine!

I know seeing the old coaches can be hard, but at least now it has happened she will not have to think about it any more.

Congrats on a great meet.

That is great news. Don't worry about the scores, she is a winner all round. Moving to a club that you are all happy with.
