The only thing ds' coach asks, is not sugar packed food right before practice. But that's just because it makes ds crazy - thus no fun to work with.

As for what I do feed my kids before: a mix of fruit, carbs and protein. Yogurt tube, applesauce, fruit, granola bar etc.

After, a healthy dinner.
 
Protein and carbs pre workout, the same post. Suitable amounts of protein, carbs, fat for breakfast and lunch.

TBH, this is a very sketchy area unless your gymnast has nutrition training.
