We had our last level 2 meet today for my 8 year old gymnast. She has been doing gymnastics for a total of about 6 months. She has been having trouble with her back hip circle and decided a few weeks ago that she was going to have it by the last meet. She worked hard during class and even stayed after. She also started working out her arms (not over the top or anything) and core at home to see if gaining some strength would help. 2 days ago it all clicked and she did it for the first time. We talked on the way to the meet today and I told her not to be too disappointed if she didn't manage it today not to be too disappointed because she had only just gotten the skill. Well, not only did she get, but it was beautiful and for the first time ever she did her entire bar routine by herself and scored a 9.0!!! On top of that she scored 9.05 on floor and a 9.15 on beam. We had a tough vault judge today. She has never scored below a 9 but got a 7.9 :/ It wasn't un-even though, all of the girls scored low. This judge just took her level 2 judging seriously LOL. Anyways, it is what it is. She could have scratched every other event and still been over the moon about the bars!
